Stone Crest

At first glance, this apartment complex was perfect. Appeared to be much nicer than other areas in Mount Pleasant and the staff seemed very friendly. I lived there for about two years with no problems until I got mold in my apartment. All of a sudden, they turned into slumlords. I was blamed for the mold that was growing all over my three bedroom apartment because one of the rooms had a humidifier. They kept citing that as the cause of the mold after the "professional" (a rude, twenty something year old man) with an old hygrometer to measure the humidity in the air. Not only did he not do anything, he simply left the 'machine' in our apartment, and when it didn't say what he wanted it to, claimed that proved it was my fault. Despite three maintenance men saying there was no way the mold could be caused by that, I was still blamed. It was also brought to my attention that it has happened in other apartments (as they were built last, and in turn, poorly constructed). Still nothing. I was without a bedroom to stay in for a week while they fixed the mold. When I inquired how that situation would be handled, I was basically laughed it. I was told the mold was caused by me so why would they do anything else? Finally, it came time to move and I thought we were in the clear. We left the apartment spotless and repainted. Several weeks later, I received a letter in the mail saying that not only were they keeping my security deposit of $600 but I owe them another $200 for various fees, including using flat paint instead of semi gloss! No where in my lease was any of that mentioned. After several letters, I am still trying to get my security deposit back and am sure I (a poor, college student) will end up taking this huge, soulless corporation to court to get my money back. Take my advice and move somewhere else. The management is rude beyond belief, they don't care at all about their tenants and you are basically paying an exorbitant amount of money to live in sub-par apartments. Look elsewhere!
