Murry is a 5- 1/2 yr old, neutered male, domestic medium haired cat. His owner is the best cat owner in the world! He is indoor only and is up to date on all vaccines, and he eats a diet of canned and dry commercial cat foods. Murray has no known health issues and he was presented for a routine COHAT (comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment). Murry has had previous dental extractions so several of his teeth are already missing.

Vaccination
If you call, you will be asked a number of questions to help determine the extent of the problem and what may need to be done to help. The goal is to advise you about the level of care needed, potential expenses that could be involved and the timeline in which it needs to happen. Some emergencies are life threatening and need immediate care, others appear to be really serious but in fact only need a little assistance and can perhaps wait until the next day. A few questions that maybe asked, to determine the extent of injury/illness, are: how old is the pet, what medications do they take, any other health conditions, exposure to other animals, vaccination status, when did the symptoms start and are the symptoms progressing...there are many others that might be asked depending on the situation.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Your eyes are precious and so are your pet's. If eye diseases are not properly identified and treated quickly they could progress to loss of vision. If your pet is experiencing an eye problem they should be examined by a veterinarian quickly.

As a customer of San Juan Veterinary Clinic I have always been extremely pleased with the overall customer service. I have worked with San Juan since my dogs were pups in 2008. They have handled a torn ACL, allergies, ear infections, and dental cleanings just to name a few of our specific needs. They always make a follow up call to make sure everything is okay. They have taken care of both of my labs with care and compassion, during surgeries, office visits and boarding.

Cancer Treatment
Animals get cancer, too. Ramsey, a 13-yr.-old male Goldendoodle was diagnosed with lymphoma in November of 2021. After staging of his aggressive cancer, he was placed on an extensive chemotherapy protocol. Without treatment he was not likely to survive more than a month or two.

Veterinary Surgery
Endoscopy allows a visual examination of some internal organs and body parts without the exploratory surgery. An endoscope also allows for a less painful way to document a disease process. We have the ability to obtain small biopsy samples to help make a diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment.

Laboratory Services
We have the experience and diagnostic tools to identify and treat the most extensive of internal medicine diseases. Through blood work, cytology, tonometry, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital x-ray and other diagnostic tools we can help you determine the best course of treatment for your companion. With our complete in-house laboratory, most samples can be analyzed and the results reviewed in a matter of minutes.
X-Ray
We are one of the few veterinary hospitals on the Western Slope of Colorado that has Digital Radiography. There are many benefits to this technology: image is ready quicker, ability to adjust or clarify an image, the images don’t deteriorate and no chemicals. Having digital images also makes it much easier for consultation and interpretation by specialists, when needed.
Dental Radiology
San Juan Veterinary Clinic is one of a very few veterinary hospitals to have this critical tool. Dental radiography is necessary to adequately assess the roots of teeth. There is a lot of dental disease that occurs beneath the gum line that cannot be found without an “x-ray”; until it presents as severe and likely irreparable disease.
