        The Alabama Public Library Service is responsible for receiving and administering state funds as provided by the State Legislature, and federal funds as provided by the Library Services and Technology Act. The Alabama Public Library Service provides library services to the general citizens of Alabama, as well as for those with special needs through the Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. It provides library services to the Alabama State employees to meet their work related information needs. The Alabama Public Library Service assists in establishing cooperative library services and networks, as well as offers continuing education opportunities for librarians.
