The atmosphere and decorations here were very nice. Very calm, peaceful atmosphere. The decorations were very modern and chic. They have a good variety of drinks including thai iced tea and iced coffee. There was a good variety of menu items from the traditional thai curries & salads to regular Chinese food. We ordered pot stickers, pad thai noodles, yellow curry with chicken, fried banana with ice cream & sticky rice with mango. The total was $60. The dessert was better than the main food. I did not like the chicken in the dishes. It was dark colored and just not as fresh tasting. The curry was very nice though. Great, traditional flavors. The potatoes and carrots in the curry were not over or undercooked. The pad thai noodles were okay but again, I did not like the chicken. The dessert was great! The mango was soft and sweet as was the sticky rice. The sticky rice and friend bananas were served warm. I've heard a lot of good things about this place that's why I came but I was a little disappointed. The chicken not tasting good was it for me. Might just come here for their vegetarian options.
This place RULES! I've been to a lot of restaurants in the area and have come to the conclusion that most of them suck. Then I tried Modesto Sukiyaki. WOW! They get it, they REALLY get it. Maybe it's because they actually know what Japanese food is. Maybe it's the incredible service. Maybe it's the fact that they treat you like a part of the family when you dine there. I don't know what exactly makes this place such a pleasure to dine at but whatever it is that makes it stand out, I will be a customer for life. I don't get too many opportunities to return to Japan, so when I'm in the mood for a taste of home cooked Japanese comfort food, I know that Modesto Sukiyaki will take care of me. 5 stars isn't enough, I give them 10!
If you are a local and even if your not, everyone knows or has heard of Noah's Hof Brau. I ate there when I was a kid and now take my kids there. I live in town and commute to Stockton, and even people there has been to the Hof Brau. I love this place because it never changes. The food is savory and rich in flavor. I have eaten many things from the menu and it all so very good, but my absolute favorite is the Won Ton Soup. Slices if savory pork and around 15 pork won tons, fresh veggies in a super hot tasty broth in a ginormous bowl, makes this the best soup I have ever eaten in my entire life!!! Cheap, and fabulous... Modesto- don't say you've been there till you eat at the hof brau!!!!
