Professionalism

Fourteen years of caring and professional service with reasonable prices. They’ve cared for our two dogs, three cats, and a bunny, who because of Dr Knight’s excellent care and knowledge has far outlived his life expectancy. Drs Knight and Zieman are the best.

I am very disappointed in the care my dog received at the Animal Care Center. I took him in because he seemed to be in pain either from his teeth or back. Dr. Knight was very abrupt when talking to me about what might be wrong. She never said definitively whether it was his back or teeth that were hurting. She then told me he had a heart murmur, asked about his heart worm medication and then left the room. She never came back and explained what the heart murmur meant and gave me an estimate of 1,000.00 for his dental work. I took him to another vet today and they checked his heart, explained to me what a heart murmur is and prescribed two medications that will help reduce the damage to his heart. I'm appalled to know that he should have been prescribed medicine for this condition and Dr. night chose not to even talk to me further about it. Instead she wanted an exorbitant amount for his dental surgery. I would not recommend her to anyone. Vets should not be trying to scare or belittle people into spending money at their practice. The animal should be the most important concern.

Sunshin, it appears that you are not familiar with the care of birds. Drs. Knight & Barr are very caring and gentle with all of the animals in their care. Their staff is first class and obviously care for the animals as well. Drs. Knight and Barr are readily available for emergencies. They have a top notch boarding facility. Perhaps you were not familiar with the exam routine and it may have appeared to you that your bird was mistreated. I can guarantee that was not the case. They even have a special exam room that is kept warm especially for the birds. There are few vets who specialize in birds and I would not take my bird any place else. If you walked in their clinic with the attitude you showed in your review, I have no doubt that they still treated your bird with the utmost care.

Response for poster “sunshin”

I have taken my Goffin’s Cockatoo (a naturally very skittish bird) and Sun Conure (naturally hardy bird) to Dr. Knight for care & boarding for over 12 years and have been very pleased with both her & her staff’s care of my birds.

As for clipping a bird’s wings- Dr. Knight (& staff) handles my birds with great care & in the prescribed manner to prevent the bird from injuring itself. Birds are not cats or dogs. Their bones can be easily broken. Even my skittish Cockatoo gets over it & back to her normal self the second we leave the exam room.

I’ll take an educated guess based on your post (wording & all caps) that you likely did not educate yourself on the care of pet birds before you purchased one (including, how to hold one when clipping their wings.) As for your bird being depressed & stressed- In my experience-Pet birds can sense your mood. If you are stressed, they will become stressed.

Dr. Knight is very knowledgeable in the care of exotic birds and cares for their well-being. conducts my birds’ regular check-ups, clips their wings & sands their nails regularly. She has taken special care of one of my birds when she was sick, checking on her after our visit day, nite & weekend. She & her staff have also taken great care of my birds when I have boarded them with her.

I took my bird to see Dr. Knight and was very pleased with the experience. My bird was caught with a towel and handled with great care and gently. The exam went well and so did the beak, wing and nail trim. It was a very informative experience and Dr. Knight and the technician were very thorough. I will definitely be going back!!!

P's and Q's Dogs!

Hi!

This is Frances, the owner of P's and Q's Dog Training! LLC

I own Camp Dobe/Muttaritaville home-style boarding.

I am the first Certified Pet Dog Trainer in the tri-state area of AL/MS/LA (waaaay back in 2001!)

I am a total "dog nut," and have an insatiable interest in training, behavioral and medical issues regarding dogs.

Animal Care Center is FABULOUS.

The years as a dog trainer, dog training instructor, dog behavior counselor, and more, have taught me vets are NOT gods in white coats. I have had *personal* contact with 120+ clinics and/or vets in the Mobile, AL area. Animal Care Center's Linda and Chris (vets Knight/Barr) are of the rarefied few I am willing to give my endorsement to.

What I do: TRUST 100%. Recommend 100%.

In addition, ACC has had an active role in the furthering of my medical education. Thank you, Linda.

Sincerely,

Frances Dauster CPDT

I love those wonderful furry beings with whom we are graced to share their lives.

Compassion and Quality Care

The doctors at Animal Care Center have cared for my pets for over 15 years. We have lost a couple of battles to save pets and we have had successes as well. Whatever the issue, and whether the pet was furry or feathered, The doctors and staff have always shown compassion and provided the highest quality of care and referral services. I recommend them without reservation.
