If this review was based solely in regards to the food, it'd be a raving five star review. Yet, service must be taken into consideration when writing a review, right?! The ambiance is beautiful and relaxing. We arrived around 3:30pm for lupper; lunch/supper. After being seated, it took nearly 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our server...not a good start. We ordered our beverages and meals and after another long wait, we finally got our basket of bread. We finished our beverages and needed more (we had just finished a long road trip- goofy, yet we get very thirsty after long drives). Our server was nowhere to be found. My man asked another employee if he could please refill his tea and my water. That guy was a gem and did so with a smile...nice guy! The wait for our entrees seemed very long, yet I didn't time it. My club sandwich was perfect and my man raved about his salmon. Yes- the food was fabulous! I desired some mayo for French fry dipping (yummy), yet again, the server was nowhere to be found. Ugh! Does ANYbody know where she was hiding?!! She actually didn't check back with us until we had only a couple bites left on our plate...too late for the mayo. We were really hoping that service at this CF would be far better than the service we've had at CA CFs, yet it was not...bummer.

I love this place! It has been updated to be more modern and the salad bar is always stocked with fresh food. The new lighting and atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for. It is like the teeny bopper place it used to be grew up. They got rid of the garage sale on the walls and put up some nice pictures that highlight the restaurants focus on it's food and ingredients. The menu has gone up in price in the last few years but what restaurant hasn't. You can still find value items on the menu like the all you can eat salad bar and pair it with anything on the menu. For all of the restaurants in the Mall of America I would recommend Ruby Tuesday, Bubba Gumps, and Famous Daves. The other restaurants there are a little more expensive like Twin City Grill, Tucci Benucci, California Cafe, or Napa Valley. Your alternative choices to the sit down restaurants are in the food court where you can be herded around like cattle to get through the lines and then have no place to sit. Be aware on weekends or holidays in any MOA restaurant plan on a 30 minute wait time to be seated and if you have a large party good luck, these places stay packed so call in advance or split up the group or you might be waiting a long time.
This is one of the first motels we have found where your choice of rooms really, REALLY, does matter a lot. (And that fact explains a few of the other varying reviews as well.) Our initial reservation was in a single queen room (they do have double queen rooms but I do not know what those are like) as we were just staying one night and were only going to be there for a few hours. That room, although clean, was small, cramped, somewhat dated, and next to the elevator shaft -- as were all the single queen rooms apparently. A very nice and helpful desk attendant, however, had warned us in advance (so we peeked) and told us that for a little more we could get the king with new bedding and much larger. Correct! The king room we took for a little more money was extremely large, clean, and well kept. The bed was very comfortable. Toilet and shower seperate from the sink. Nice touch when two people are in the room. Air conditioning unit was automatic and relatively quiet. Wonderful room really for the price. Location is convenient if you have a car, but there is nothing much within easy walking distance as you are on the other side of the highway from MOA and most restaurants.
