Hands down the most delicious Thai in town, although I admit I haven't made it to all of them yet. Cooked to order, the King and I's egg rolls are crispy, flavorful tidbits served with a sweet-spicy dipping sauce that can cause addiction. The satay imbues meats with fine spices, fire-grilled and served with peanut sauce - and cucumbers to cleanse your palace. But the curries are its shining glory, with a wild variety from traditional to fusion. Fresh basil stir-fries, pad thai prepared to your order, and a huge variety of other dishes spiced from mild to mouth-mangle. Dine amid Thai sculptures and other treasures; full bar and interesting desserts. Wish they were back on Nicollet Mall, but we would go very far out of our way to make to King and I, if they weren't so close to downtown.
Noisy but energetic atmosphere. Food is well-prepared to order; spiciness tends to the mild side. Portions are tidy but not generous. Red, panang, and green curries a little watery, but the massaman curry is thick and delicious and uncharacteristically large serving. Fun with friends and groups. Service can be slow during busy lunches; usually catering to a rushing young business crowd.
Amazing food! They offer a nice variety, and staff will suggest complimentary combinations of appetizers, meals, and desserts. Very nice, casual atmosphere and super friendly owners. I was especially impressed that they recycle everything, and even compost left-overs! I live about an hour away, but I will definitely be back!
