The two founding men, Louie Sigorney and Daniel Zuleski brought our Tasty Pizza to life in 1963. Their search for a name for this new pizza place found them looking of all places in an Ohio phonebook that Daniel had brought with him on his move to Minnesota. Inside they came across a pizza place appropriately named "Tasty Pizza's", that was so fitting they adopted the name. Soon after Daniel Zuleski sold his part of the business to Louie and Louie took on a new partner, Duane Estrem. After about a year Louie wanted to sell, so Duane called his friend John Huff, whom he knew from working at Pepsi and asked him if he wanted in. Now partners, John, being tall and lean himself, believed that every pizza place needed a "Fat Man". Thus Duane became affectionately dubbed "Fat Man", a name that all would come to know him by. Duane and John became deeply involved in the surrounding community, supporting many athletic teams and helping the local high school with fundraiser. There probably hasn't been a graduate from Heights who hasn't had our spaghetti! Still continuing the tradition is Duane's son Todd. He prides himself on staying true to the original "Tasty Pizza" recipe. In 2005 Todd added Hangar 45 onto Tasty Pizza. Hangar 45 is modeled after a passion that both he and his father shared World War II Aviation. So come in and meet the crew and stay for the food, you will not be disappointed! The menu is on their website at: Tastypizzatogo.com You can not find another pizza that offers the same high quality ingredients, at least consistently. Their cheese is especially amazing! I truly believe it is aged to perfection.

Needs to have a menu online so people can see what they have to order to go instead of calling and have them tell you what they have
The food is excellent and I would recommend their pizza to anyone who likes good old fashioned greasy pizza.

their pizza is the bomb! It is fantastic! I have grown up with it and cant get enough of it. while their are now other ""tasty pizza"" establishments, the one in Columbia heights is still by far the best. they have other good things like chicken, spaghetti and a buffet during the week. They even have the old classic little tvs on some of the tables still. They have opened up a bar on the other side of the cooks area now as well! \r The only downfall is the smoking! If you can tolerate sitting in it sometimes, the pizza is great, and they are open until 2 or 3 am every day!

I have lived in 4 states since growing up in Minneapolis. I left at the age of 21 to enter the service and have only come back for family visits. EACH and EVERY time I have gone home.... either with my family or for some other occasion.... manage to drop by the Tasty Pizza on 45th in Columbia Heights. Both my wife and my mother have carried a Tasty Pizza on the plane for me during visits. Great stuff!!!
