Authentic Chinese food in Nordeast, Minneapolis. Intergenerational family run business - you will enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Great for a dinner before a movie at the Heights Theater.
Great family-owned and operated restaurant. The lo mein is excellent - not like your typical greasy lo mein from other restaurants. Everything is made-to-order, fresh as it gets. The chicken wings are amazing - perfectly crispy skin and delicious. I also love that you can customize anything to get it spicy. My husband loves the hand-wrapped cream cheese wontons and pot stickers are my favorite.
This place is like a trip to the past, with all the Americanized Chinese food of our youth. Egg Foo Yong is crispy on the outside, silky inside. My personal favorite is the Hunan sauce, real rich. Orders can be personalized for any veggies, MSG or nuts you may not like. Anything with shrimp is great. Moo shoo with pancakes to die for. The place is a little run-down, but hey - they don't speak English in the kitchen, they're still all Chinese, and they are all eating the food!!!

I went here with a friend. She seemed to enjoy her combo platter, but mine was disappointing. The fried rice was tasty, as was the egg fu young, or would have been if there weren't eggshells in it. The waitress was very nice and called the manager. Who was dismissive and did not offer any discount or to redo the dish. The mushroom chicken was made with canned mushrooms just thrown on top, and chicken pieces that were too small to see. Overall not the most positive experience.

I have been all over the place in the US, even in China Towns. This is the real deal.
This was the WORST food I have ever tasted.. The egg rolls were like rubber, fried rice tasted like an ash tray, I don't even know how to explain the chicken..It was delivered cold, rude and way too expensive. I should have listened to the other review and stayed away from this place.

This is possibly the worst Chinese food I have had in the Twin Cities. I paid $20 for food for one person and the portions were so small that I wasn't even full after eating it. I can't imagine spending that much money on food and still being hungry at any other Chinese place I've ever been. \r \r I love cream cheese wontons, but these were by far the worst I have ever had. They were almost spicy and the sweet and sour sauce they sent with was aweful too. \r \r Finally, I found a piece of hair in my food. I had to stop eating after I found it because it grossed me out so much, so my $20 was basically completely wasted. I will never eat here again!
This place offers many poplar dishes from past restaurants:
Pressed Duck from the Fireside Rice Bowl
Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken from the Nankin
Chicken Fingers from the Bali Hai

You need to give this place a try! If you like Shuang Cheng, this place is pretty comparable. The food is great and the prices inexpensive. Try the Beef Chow Fun.
