EDIT: I need to update this review. Autopia has kept my poor, beat up, and worked to death Subaru up and running for a decade now. Every time I get it back, it's like a new car again. But now I finally picked up my dream car: a dark gray 2011 Chevy Camaro 2SS/RS. As great as this car is, that chassis and motor are both capable of so much more. So I brought it to Autopia to shed all of the 'hair dresser' acceptable chassis softeners and motor muters. Keep in mind: These were no small changes I was asking for. I brought a truckload of new parts and completely stuffed poor Dave's office. Installing them would involve removing the whole rear clip, the whole front AND rear suspension, sway bars, engine intake and exhaust, and even the stock axles. I can't even imagine forcing myself to trust anyone else with this work. Dave told me he had just the guy, one of the friendliest, most experienced, and knowledgeable mechanics I've ever met, Stan. The work they did is INCREDIBLE. It's completely transformed my dream car into my Beyond My Dreams car! Shortly after the work was done, my stock Chevy differential unit failed all on it's own. Even though it's warranty work that a dealer has to do themselves, Autopia stood by me through the whole process. When the dealership tried to add an extra week to the work time at the last minute, it was Dave who got all over them and made sure I had my ride back ON TIME and in PERFECT running condition. For NO charge. It's natural for people to be suspicious of businesses who make their living doing and fixing things that the customer doesn't understand. So I can only hope that you understand me when I say that Autopia not only takes it's job and reputation seriously, they approach it as a professional responsibility. When they warn you of trouble ahead, it's because they want to make sure you know what you need to know about your car. Dealerships have a vested interest in giving the customer an impression. Autopia has a vested interest in the customer. _________________________________________________ I brought my 12 yr old Subaru into Autopia last month after neglecting it's upkeep for the last 4 yrs. It had been a heavily used work car for about 8 yrs prior to that. I'd had some trouble with my latest clutch that Autopia had put in for me in '08, but I put it down to my hardly driving any more. So I called Dave S and made an appointment for a tune-up. Once they got my car in they found out the clutch really did have a problem and they replaced it at no charge. They also had the foresight to send my flywheel in to a machine shop to fix a little damage the bad clutch had done. When I got my car back, I couldn't believe it. The WHOLE car is like new again! I really thought my little GT might be on it's last legs. But they managed to turn my poor old dog back into a pup again! Now I really enjoy driving my car again. And they did it all for a song! For the money I paid, I never expected to get a completely rejuvenated car back. I couldn't be happier.
Overall I am happy, but it was quite a disjointed experience. We arrived at agreement to purchase on a Friday afternoon, and set an appointment to complete the transaction on the following day at 12:30. When I arrived, it was apparent that the dealership was not prepared, and it took 2 hours to complete what could have taken 15 minutes or less. The vehicle I purchased was a "CPO Next" vehicle, and I agreed to purchase the maintenance plan for an additional $2000. I requested written information regarding the particulars of the warranty provided by the "CPO" status, the vehicle inspection records, and the maintenance plan. None of these were available, and Oliver explained to me that I could look this up on the website. Vad called me a few days later to check in and I asked him if he could help me obtain the documentation I requested, since Oliver had not been able to. I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks, so two days before my temporary tag was to expire I contacted Vad to ask him if he could help. He was alarmed that I had not received the documents I'd requested (explained that he'd asked the finance/operations side) and he took personal responsibility to ensure that everything was squared away. So Vad really saved the day in terms of my perspective on the quality of the business - he explained that the dealership had just moved into the new location and that everything wasn't where it was supposed to be - so things were still a bit disorganized. [I'd become quite concerned, but now feel more confident about my future relationship with the dealer - that it apparently really was just a hiccup.] Vad personally made sure that I received all of the documentation that should have been given to me at closing, and he put the new tabs on my vehicle with 24 hours to spare. I like my new MINI, and I appreciate Vad's attention to my situation once he was aware that the support system wasn't fully functional.
I must have been there shortly after Big John Sloan. I looked at there website and found a car that I REALLY wanted. I called to make sure it was there. "Sure it's here no problem. Runs and drives great. Tell you what" the person answering the phone said, " I'll make sure it's all washed and ready to be seen. And make sure there is gas for a test drive". How effing comforting. Big John, if you're reading this, when I got there I found two people who appeared to be "fighting" for lead or control of the dealership. I also encountered someone who was just leaving. His parting words were, "don't buy nothing from these thieves" as he was walking away. I proceeded to look for the car I was interested and was met by a salesman. What a joke. No smile, no handshake, nothing. Just "What kind of money do you got to spend?" Wow. Wonderful grammer buddy. I ended up telling him I was just looking around. I asked by year, make, model and color and ADVERTISED miles for the car I found online. Oppps. "Well, we jus happen to sell dat car. But here, over this way is another'n that you will like better." Really? You're telling me what I'll like and won't like?????? I thanked him for his time and walked off the lot. PUNKS!! I'd rather ride with MTC then try nurturing one of their bucket of bolts and wires around. THANKS BIG JOHN. Wish I'd have read your review before I went all the way over there. Scum bag sockcuckers.
