The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin has long been a national leader in teaching and patient care. We value excellence, compassion, and professionalism. We are proud to train many successful orthopedic surgeons who go on to practice medicine with these same core values. With 21 faculty members providing nine different clinical services, the department covers the full spectrum of orthopedic surgery.

Adult Joint Reconstruction- Foot and Ankle Hand and Upper Extremity-Specialty trained, experienced surgeons and hand therapists treat all aspects of the hand: complex reconstructive problems, including replantation; skin, vascular, nerve, tendon and bone repair and reconstruction; Dupuytrens, benign and malignant tumors; rehabilitation and restoration of hands afflicted with arthritis; stroke problems, cerebral palsy, congenital conditions, and work-related injuries, especially cumulative disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Microsurgery, the newest subspecialty in orthopaedics, restores limb function by repairing tiny, delicate vessels, and nerves. It also enables the transfer of muscles and large segments of skin, fat, and bone from one part of the body to reconstruct another. Advances in microsurgery often mean that patients may avoid amputation. Musculoskeletal Clinic Musculoskeletal Oncology Center Orthopaedic Traumatology The Spine Center coordinates the many spine-related medical and surgical specialties available at the Medical Center. It offers diagnostic, evaluative, and treatment facilities for congenital, acquired, and traumatic disorders. The Sports Medicine Center provides evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries for athletes, at all levels, in all sports. It also offers routine services such as preseason physicals and exercise counseling.
