X-rays
Dental X-rays produce a low level of radiation and are considered safe. Our office takes the necessary precautions to limit our patients' exposure to radiation while taking X-rays. We use highly sensitive DIGITAL sensors on low exposure/time setting to capture images` on both individual films as well as panoramic scans.

Teeth Cleaning
Gabriela and the team are awesome and make going to the dentist a great experience considering it's not exactly everyone's favorite thing to do. They've elevated the standard of care here in Mill Valley and utilize the latest in technology as well. Being a bit of a gadget person, I was quite impressed with their laser teeth cleaning setup, very cool tech!

We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride all help to prevent dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications you may be taking, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

Fillings
There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth. Composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings, are the most commonly used today. Composite fillings are tooth-colored; therefore, they can be closely matched to the color of your existing teeth and are more aesthetically suited for use in highly visible areas, such as the front teeth.
Veneers
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that is custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Crowns
There are several types of bridges. You and your dentist will discuss the best options for your particular case. The “traditional bridge” is the most popular type and is usually made of porcelain fused to metal. This type of bridge consists of two crowns that are placed over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and attached to pontics, also known as artificial teeth. This fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

Dental bridges are highly durable and will last many years; however, they may need replacement or to be re-cemented due to normal wear.

Root Canal Treatment

Periodontal Surgery
If the pockets do not heal after scaling and root planing, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce pocket depths, which will make teeth easier to clean. Your dentist may also recommend that you see a periodontist (specialist of the gums and supporting bone).
Deep Cleaning
If the disease has progressed to a more advanced stage, a special periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) will be recommended. This procedure is usually done one quadrant of the mouth at a time while each area is numb. During this procedure, tartar, plaque, and toxins are removed from above and below the gum line (scaling) and rough spots on root surfaces are made smooth (planing). This procedure helps gum tissue to heal and pockets to shrink. Medications, special medicated mouth rinses, and the use of an electric toothbrush may be recommended to help control infection and healing.

Dentures
To keep your night guard clean, brush it daily with a toothbrush and a mild liquid soap. Then, dry and store it. Soak your night guard with an enzymatic denture cleaning tablet, such as Efferdent, once a week. You may also bring your night guard with you to your hygiene appointments at our office so we may clean it in our ultrasonic bath.
Overdentures
Removable, implant anchored overdenture - A removable full denture that is connected to either a ball or bar attachment, which in turn is anchored on two or more implants on the front part of the jaw.

Gabriela was born and raised in Mexico City where she received her dental license at the Universidad Intercontinental. She completed a preceptorship in pediatric dentistry in Mexico City and then relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to attend the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She followed this with a Fellowship in Oral Medicine. Shortly thereafter, she started her family dental practice.
