Dongs Karate School

My 6 year old son and I joined together in May of 2009. We are now preparing to test for our 2nd degree black belts in April. It's been life changing for us. Master Dickens and his staff are second to none. I would recommend this program to everyone, particularly those with challenged kids. I've seen remarkable transformations. Great school, great people. Master Dickens (and all of the other instructors) at the Harbour Pointe branch are fantastic. I have watched my child for the last three years improve in her focus and concentration so much that I enrolled my older daughter. Tae kwon do has taught my daughters skills that will last a lifetime.

Our daughter has been attending Dong's karate at Harbour Pointe for the past few years. Its something she really took to - in large part due to the supportive and encouraging community of instructors and peers surrounding her - its a great group there and they work well together. Her self confidence has grown, she likes the physical nature of the art in a safe environment and the classes are flexible and frequent enough she can work on her forms and skill while still participating in other activities such as violin and art classes. As a parent, I like the respect and discipline Tae Kwon Do requires in its students and its a positive reinforcement to what we teach at home. I'm very pleased with Dong's Karate.

She has a lot more self confidence than ever, her awareness is great and her abilities to defend her self in a real world scenario are supurb. My daughter has been going to Dong's Karate since she was 6 years old. The instructors are so patient and caring with the young children. My daughter has developed an amazing amount of confidence and self discipline since beginning her training. She will be testing for her Black Belt this year at the age of 9 and is looking forward to her future at Dong's Karate. One of her favorite experiences at Dong's is helping to teach the lower level color belt classes. I would recommend Master Dickens' Harbour Point location to any family that is interested in learning about the world of martial arts!

Dongs Karate is outstanding, you get two beginner classes for twenty dollars, that's how I got started at the school and ever since I started out as a beginner, I have loved it. Now that i am a Bo-Dan belt, I will be testing for my black belt soon and I will be able to younger belts what I have learned through the years of being a color belt. It is a very good school, and for all the years I have been there, safety is their number one priority!

My name is Ty Stromberg and I have gone to Dong's for eight years. It is the best Tae Kwon Do place in Virginia that I have tried. I first went to a place that is now out of business called Scotty Z's. I love Dong's a lot because the instruction is great as well as the teachers and cirriculum. It teaches you self-defense as well as lots of good qualities a person should have. It helps you have humility because you may go in thinking you're going to be the best... and you're not. It also even helps you with hard-working-ness. Physically, it challenges you, and mentally, you have to work to do the the papewrwork.

REVIEW BY H.ADAWI: Dong's is a great place to go if you want to try out something other than a traditional sport like football, baseball, or soccer. If you focus on doing the stretches and exercises correctly, you'll be doing your body a favor for the future. I've gone to Dong's Karate school for nearly 3 years. Its help me be more Social and got me to get into physical activity again. The experience has been great. The instructors have really friendly and supportive of my growth.
