General Info
The Middletown Day Nursery, established in 1912, is a non-profit daycare center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. We are licensed for 75 children ( between the age of 6 weeks and 10 years ) of working or student parents. We are privately funded through parent tuition, contributions, association membership dues, fundraisers, The United Way and the CACFP food reimbursement. Our operating hours are 6: 30 am to 6: 15 pm.The Nursery is open year round and closes on: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Washington's Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We attempt to open on snow days but reserve the right to remain closed during severe weather conditions. An announcement will be made by 6 am on your local radio station, on the internet or our Nursery voicemail. The Nursery accepts children on a full-time, part-time or hourly basis. Infants and toddlers are primarily enrolled full-time. From September through June kindergarten through third grade children are transported from public school back to the Nursery for the remainder of the day. We serve a well balanced breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack everyday. Parents who feel in need of financial assistance with their child's tuition may apply for help through the Scholarship Committee. Financial assistance is allocated according to need and family income. Funds received from the United Way are earnmarked for this purpose. Our educational program consists of a planned infant, toddler, and pre-school curriculum emphasizing social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Regular schedules are established which alternate active and quiet periods as well as outdoor play in the morning and afternoon. Evaluations of each child's progress are conducted bi-yearly so that staff can plan to meet the special needs of each child. Parents are kept informed of their child's progress through meetings, bi-yearly conferences and monthly newsletters regarding educational program. The educational goals are based on the developmental and age appropriate needs of the children.
