If you want to really "go camping," The Waterfalls Campground is the place to do it.
I've been to numerous campgrounds, but all of those did not feel like I was in the wilderness. With the Waterfalls, we were located within the beautiful Schoharie Valley (which is famous for it's mountaneous beauty), in the mist of trees, and many creeks, and two absolutely beautiful waterfalls, I felt as if I walked into a story book.
However, this camp had the basic necessities as well. You have plumbing, electric, heat, and even cable in your site. & if your camper doesn't have these amenties, there are cozy bathrooms throughout the ground, and an older style camping trailer completely renovated as a shower/bathroom, which is cozy and extremely clean.
The owner is a very friendly couple. The office also sells firewood and ice.
The location in convient as well- in the country, but close to Albany, Schenectady, etc.
This camp looks like you're camping in the wilderness, and there is no other place like it.
