- Tucker has been building pools since 1972. After meeting Marie and getting married they went into a business together but Tucker was not real happy with the new business of owning a restaurant. He missed digging in the dirt. One day in late May they were talking about exactly what Tucker did when he was building pool. Tucker explained to Marie how first he had to dig up the yard to level it. Then build the pool. Marie joked and said ok we will call our new company Dig-M-Pools. They both laughed and Tucker added right "U-Buy-M - We-Dig-M". Marie took a napkin and jotted down the name and the phrase. Pretty much that was the end of the conversation. The next day Marie took the napkin to a printer & had some cards made. She called the newspaper and ran an ad to build pools. As the day went on Marie forgot to mention to Tucker she had ordered cards & put an ad in the paper. The phone rang, it was a woman who wanted to know how much it cost to put up a pool. Then Marie told Tucker what she had done and that there was a woman on the phone who actually wanted a pool installed. This is a true story. The phones started ringing and DigM was formed. Tucker & Marie realized the people were buying their pools from a company called Nichols Pools. They decided to go to Nichols to see if they could get some work. They met with Bud Nichols,an owner. He was open to the idea we could be added to his list of installers and maybe we would get some calls. We were the 14th on the list! Marie would go out with Tucker and the crew and build pools every day, 7 days a wk. She knew absolutely nothing about pools so this was a great experience. After working all day on the crew Marie would come home and answer the calls that were on the answering machine. We were very busy even though we were 14th on the list. In 3 yrs the list only had 3 installers left. Finally DigM was at the top. When the economy was good DigM was installing over 2000 pools a year! DigM started in PA. we expanded to NJ, DE, MD, VA, FL. DigM actually made a trade out of building above ground pools. They are highly recognized in the above ground pool industry. In 1979 The National Spa and Pool Industry actually wrote an article in their magazine acknowledging our achievement of making installation of above ground pools a recognized trade industry. This was the beginning of a new pool installer era. We are the oldest above ground pool company in this trade. We have been around a long time. Tucker is still out building pools every day. Tucker always says he is a very fortunate man to have found something he could make a living at and enjoy doing it too. Nothing gives him great pleasure as watching the smiles on his customers faces when their pool is finished. And so goes the story of how DigM got started.

I had a new replacement pool installed in this year. There currently was a pool that I removed was there (17 yrs). This company does not do on-site estiment. The crew arrived as scheduled did what I thought was a good job till after further inspection there were many creases on the bottom. They finally returned after 4 days to stretch the creases out. Sadly the bottom now 3 months after looks worse then the previous 2 liners I installed myself in my old pool. So much for a flat level bottom. FYI. Demand a written estimate prior to installment! An do your own thorough inspection before the crew leaves
From start to finish my family and I had a great experience. We absolutely love our new pool. The team was professional and great at what they do. All my friends love the work this company did for us, and would definitely use them their selves. Once again thank you Dig M team !!!
This is the 3rd pool they have built for me. I can't say enough about the customer service before and after the installation. They gave a blue book that explained everything in detail. If your looking for a company that will be there for the life of your pool then your heading in the right direction. My first pool was built by them in 1979. Izzy
Dig-m-installers installed my above ground pool yesterday and while the installers seemed to do a great job and were , the management team was rude and clueless. The excavator came on Friday did his work and I paid him $250. He moved some extra dirt for me and I asked him if I owed him anything more. He said NO. And that standard practice is for me to deduct his fee from the total of $ 1950 on Sunday. I then called Dig-m to confirm this and was told that I was correct. When the crew came on Sunday they told me that I owed them $ 1950. I told them what dig-m told me and they called Marie the owner and she said I was wrong. When I called Marie she told me if I did not pay them $ 1950 they would leave. (meanwhile all of the parts were spread all over my yard). I had them finish the pool but asked Marie if I could cancel the water truck that was due today and save the $ 250 in water and fill the pool with my hose. She said yes. Well guess what the water truck showed up at 9:00am.
They are a great company. The stand behind their work. Everything is in writing from them. Make sure you get their free Blue Book. It will walk you through the process of having an above ground pool installed. It will make things easier when you know what to expect.
We had our brand new pool installed by this company as recommended by Namco.
Issues with installation:
Pool liner had multiple wrinkles on bottom -- not smooth. (we landscaped as booklet they provided directed immediately same day as installation.)
Pool struts were not flush against pool wall leaving gaps between pool wall and struts all the way around pool. Installer assured us the water would push the pool wall out to fill in these gaps, this did not happen.
Paid to have filter and solar heater installed. None of the valves were tightened when connected. When the water was shipped in the whole area flooded.
They quoted us a price for excavation of $25 per inch. They gave us name of sub contractor who informed us that he does not know why dig em does that he won't touch a job for less than $350. Our expected $125 turned into $550.
(this is not Dig M's Price -- but they quote this to you when you discuss installation.)
We called Dig M Installers the day after the water was shipped in. We tried that same day but they closed up shop early. We had to wait one day.
We were told that they would have the original installer, Louie, come out and look at the pool. Assured us they wanted us to be happy. They said they could and would fix out issues.
We have waited 5 days now and no sign of anyone.
I called yesterday and got Marie on the telephone. Her last name is Rooney which is the name of the owner so I imagine she's related or a part owner herself. She screamed at me for several minutes about landscaping. Did not ask me any questions and told me it was ridiculous to expect an installer to come right away because they were out working in the rain to get other people's pool installed. I took this to mean that I'm all paid up so my installation is irrelevant.
I highly recommend going elsewhere. I checked the BBB website and while their MD location remains unrated their PA office has an unsatisfactory rating. Marie is listed as the contact for PA so I'm assuming any interaction with her would be frustrating to the customer.
