Captains Tavern has such a warm quaint feel! Aside from the atmosphere, the food is the best around! I travel 1 hour for this place. It is SO worth it! I recommend this place to everyone I know...it's my favorite place to eat out!!!! You may have to wait a bit on Friday and Saturday night, I usually get a drink at the bar and they'll come get us over there. It's by far my favorite fish place around!
The seafood was very good but the waitress sucked. She was very extremely slow in getting our order to us and served hot rolls to all the patrons around us, never telling us that we could request them. She told us that it was indicated on the menu that water and rolls were request only when questioned about it at the end of our meal. She was very crass! Who looks for such info on the menu. I ordered a takeout desert. She brought it with no serviceware to eat it with. I requested a fork and never got it. She was very attentive to all of the people around us as we watched while waiting on our checks. It took forever to get our checks.I wonder if all of this had anything to do with the color of our skin. But I have no complaints about the food. It was very good and I would return but would never want that particular waitress and would hate to think that she is an indicator of the kind of waitstaff in this restaurant.
I finally found a restaurant which actually serves fresh fish when it says it! The dolphin, grouper, scallops were excellent. Salad or slaw and potato or rice accompany each dish. Most dishes are $9-$15--a real bargain for the portion.Would definitely recommend!

This is one of my favorite restaurants but definitely my favorite seafood restaurant. Fisherman that we know love eating here and ordering from their market. That's all you need to know. We love it so much. The food is just awesome. My favorites include the Salmon Tartare (always must order it) The main dishes are delicious. My favorite dessert is the white chocolate creme brulee.. Yum!!

I have eaten here numerous times and I have yet to have a bad meal. The ipswich belly clams, coleslaw, salmon...everything is delicious. The service is usually right up there, but can lack slightly in very high traffic times which is expected, but the food is fresh and yummy...I would eat here once a week if I could.
