I am a little puzzled as to some of the negative comments about this hotel. The Catalina is amazing. In fact, I have been to Metropole and Whitelaw Hotels. The Catalina, Metropole, Whitelaw, Hotel Chelsea and a few others are all owned by South Beach Group. I have to say that the Catalina impressed me. I loved the lobby and how you can relax and look out to Collins Avenue. The pool area is great. I loved the rooms. I... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch

The room was decorated in late American cheesy with a rollaway closet and no lights. This place is DARK. If you're over 40, don't forget your flashlight. The shower was miserable with no pressure, and the washbasin was the size of a salad bowl. Floors are plastic laminate, and the toilet room has a fan that is so loud you can't stand it.
