The mechanical and electrical work consists of cleaning & lubricating of lift cables and sheaves, servicing and lubrication of span locks, servicing of warning gongs, warning gates, barrier gates, junction boxes, span motors, power distribution transformers, machine & motor brakes, louver assemblies and control system cabinetry.

The UHPC Overlay Research Project Contract B (South) consists of the reconstruction of the bridge deck on I-295 / US-130 NB over Mantua Creek. This demolition scope of work includes milling of the existing roadway, hydro-demolition of the bridge deck & deck joint headers, and Type B & Type C deck repairs. This project also includes the installation of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), which is an up-and-coming technology in the construction industry. The bridge deck will be overlaid with 1-1/2” of UHPC with 2” of hot mix asphalt overlay on top. UHPC will also be installed at the deck joint headers.

Landscaping and Fencing

Landscaping
Agate Construction provided the low bid to replace 1,770 linear feet of 66” x 51” corrugated steel arch pipe in Lower Township, Cape May New Jersey, as well as install a storm water pump station at the end of the line. The project includes improvements to the storm water conveyance system and inlet structures, full roadway reconstruction including asphalt, curb, sidewalk, driveway, landscaping, and a pump station featuring precast concrete, twin submersible pumps, a sheet pile cofferdam, 60” ductile iron pipe, a natural gas generator, load bank, and variable drive control systems. Agate is currently preparing to mobilize, with in house design plans for the shoring of the pump station excavation, bypass pumping system to mitigate interim flooding, and dewatering to open the 10’ wide pipe trench upwards of 7’ below the water table. We are excited to be a part of the solution for this neighborhood’s storm water management.

Retaining Walls
The proposed improvements include the construction of an approximately 488-foot long steel girder bridge consisting of six ±80-foot spans and supported on pile bents and pile supported abutments. The improvements will include the construction of approach embankments and retaining walls, with the approach embankments confined by steel sheet pile retaining walls to minimize the impact on wetlands and adjacent properties. The bridge will provide approximately 9 feet vertical underclearance above mean high water and 72 feet horizontal clearance within the navigable channel.
Walkways
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Contract EWR-924.375 - Newark Liberty International Airport - Rehabilitation of Peripheral Ditch Containment Boom Anchor Walls: The work under this contract consists generally of removal of existing timber and steel containment boom anchor structures; furnishing and installation of steel sheet pile walls with steel walkways, handrails, ladders and boom tracks; relocation of containment boom assemblies from existing anchor walls to the installed anchor walls and related work at the peripheral ditches at airside areas between the New Jersey Turnpike and Runway 4R-22L, and at landside areas between the Fuel Farm Roadway and Earhart Drive and the vicinities thereof at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey.

Decks
The $25 million project replaced the bridge decks, sidewalks, railings and median on the 70-year-old structure. The deck joints and structural steel elements were repaired and the bridge was repainted. The out-dated electrical/mechanical systems on the movable bascule span were also rehabilitated and new safety barrier gates were installed.

Electrical Work
Work under this Contract includes infrastructure, mechanical & electrical work on 7 of the State’s bridges in locations throughout Southern New Jersey. The infrastructure work to be performed consists of the repair of bridge headers, joints, deteriorated concrete deck, curb, sidewalk, application of corrosion inhibitor, traffic line re-striping, substructure repairs, and installation/re-installation of flexible delineators on the bridge superstructure.
