The groomer asked me how I wanted my Shih Tzu groomed. I told them to keep her round in the face and trim her down in the body.
They completely cut off all her hair :O(
I cried all the way home…
Why ask if you’re not going to do what the owner wants! I wasted my money, wish I would have said I would not pay for it, I shouldn’t have…
This site makes you give a rating... I'd give NO stars!!!

When I called to ask for pricing, I was told that grooming a 35lb dog would cost between $38 and $ 48, depending on the condition of the coat. I brushed his coat , and when we came in, they took one look at my dog and determined that his grooming would cost $ 48. When I asked why it would cost $48 instead of $38, the owner said it was because he was larger than a Shih Tzu, a breed classified as a toy breed. According to the breed standard, Shih Tzus weigh up to 16 lbs. When I asked the owner for a price list, she did not have one. I then asked where the cutoff size for the $38 grooming was, she said the size of a Shih Tzu. I asked for the exact weight and height of a Shih Tzu, but she could not tell me. So the pricing is fully arbitrary. The salon staff seemed very nice. I liked that I could see the grooming area - it was clean and the other dog there was not muzzled or drugged. They did a nice dog shaving my dog. They were very specific when asking how I wanted my dog groomed and did exactly what I had asked for, a very simple shave. Included in the price were a bath, shave, nail clipping and a gland express. I am new to the valley, so I cannot say if $48 for a basic, no-frills groom is expensive or not. I used to take my dog to ""The Doghouse"" in Kingman and paid $35. If I had known what they charged, I would have called more salons for quotes. If you do come here, be sure to get an exact quote on the price. Overall, the grooming was great, the business practices unprofessional.

I've been taking my dog to Top Dog Grooming for several years now and have always been extremely pleased with the whole experience. They accept walk-ins, their prices are reasonable, their shop is clean, the employees are friendly & most importantly...my dog comes out looking and feeling great and they are just so nice to him. I know he is in good hands when I leave him in their care.
