So far, I've only seen Dr. Bowden three times. On my first visit, he prescribed a worthless pain medication for me. I can't really blame him, as he was ordering the last medication that my family doctor had prescribed. He was not aware that I had told my family doctor that that particular medication was completely useless. On my second visit, we discussed the bad medication and without hesitation, he changed it to something much more effective. Also, I have had spinal injections in the past. Every time I have had them, it has been extremely painful. The doctors who had done them acted very rushed, as if they were trying to break a record for how many injections they could whip out in one day. Dr. Bowden took his time and inserted the needles very gently, and injected the medication slowly. This procedure is never pleasant, but Dr. Bowden and the assistants working with him truly cared about the patient's comfort and well being. The procedure was done on an out-patient basis at Mountain Vista Medical Center. The registered nurses, other medical professionals and the volunteers provided exceptional care. They brought me coffee just the way I like it, they offered me pillows and blankets, too, as it was a bit chilly in the room. Throughout the process, not only was Dr. Bowden present, but also at least 4 nurses and a couple of volunteers, who checked in every now and again. To sum it up, the staff of Pain Management Associates at Hedley Orthopedic Institute and the staff and volunteers at Mountain Vista Medical Center provide a level of service that is professional and caring, while at the same time making the client comfortable by making a joke or simply letting them know that they care and understand.
Dr. Karl Hurst-Wicker is knowledgeable and his skills are superior to any other pain doctors I have seen. He understands myofascial pain the appropriate treatments, and all other related procedures for conditions that cause chronic pain. I have had multiple ultrasound guided trigger point injections and SI spinal injections. He is gentle and it is my pleasure to work with such a compassionate person who listens and takes my complaints seriously. In my 10+ years as pain care consumer, I have never experienced what it means to have a physician who works as a team member to investigate the right treatments for me. He is not only willing to collaborate, he embraces it and puts my outcome above all else so that I can live as productively as possible despite living with daily pain. And while my opioids are prescribed by my rheumatologist, he understands that I need them to function and participate in therapies that help my multiple pain conditions. I appreciate what a difference a team effort can make, I appreciate his willingness to explain why he thinks certain things will help more than others will. I trust him explicitly, and I recommend Dr Hurst-Wicker to anyone who lives with chronic pain.
My family has been seeing Dr Brinkerhoff for over 20 years and have always recommended him to other families for care. He is so kind and listens to your problem to treat it by the cause and not just treat the symptoms. I have nothing bad to say about a man who will make house calls to my sick grandfather and get my mother in his office asap when her health was bad. Thank you for your great services to our community. I also have not had a problem with the staff. They are great and do their jobs well. I find it very sad that a lady bad mouth Dr. Brinkerhoff in her review and didn't take the time to even respect him for running behind (it takes time to care for people properly), or the office policies (they are there for a reason). With all that said, I would hope whom ever reads this will decide to see Dr. Brinkerhoff and see that he will be amazing to you and your family.
