Wonderful steaks and meats but the sandwhiches are amazing too and they make them fresh right in front of you. Thank you for the kind customer service I recieved. I'd definitely recommend!

Hayes Meats is a wonderful local shop with excellent products, customer service and catering. The owners are honest, hard working people who strive for satisfaction and also give back to our Merritt Island community with their charitable annual event Wine, Wags and Whiskers.

This awesome family owned business just keeps getting better and better. They are always innovating to add the very best products and new offerings too! My husband and I both love shopping here and go nowhere else for our meats and treats. The apple/brie chicken is to die for!

What I don't like is deceitful people! I went in to get a couple steaks for a nice dinner tonight while in Florida and was surprised by the interactions with the young guy behind the counter. I picked out the steaks I wanted, he pointed to clarify and then picked them up to be wrapped. I then turned away to browse the shop when my attention was drawn back by the guy putting my steaks back on the shelf and wrapping something else up. I thought that I must have been being paranoid as I couldn't believe what I was seeing, so I assumed I must have been wrong. But then I observed an interaction between the guy and a female co-worker who was smiling in bewilderment and motioned to him that she saw what he had done. He then responded to her that " this is how we do things... and I'm ok with that". When he brought my order to the cash I asked to unwrap the steaks and sure enough they were not what I had ordered. I commented about this and his response was to initially blame me, telling me that I chosen these steaks, but when I assured him that they were not he apologized and gave me the steaks I wanted.

I have not yet eaten these steaks as they are for a New Years' dinner tonight, so I cannot comment on the quality - the ones I chose (and eventually got) look good - but it certainly does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Compounding this anger is the fact that they were the only place open which made it impossible for me to walk away and go elsewhere!



To the owners: your reputation on-line seems to be of a good quality neighborhood butcher. In order to maintain this, you need to get rid of this kind of dishonest help...if he will steal from customers, he will likely steal from you! If he happens to be related to you, my apologies but it is too late - he is dishonest and ok with that!



Finally, if this is a practice that you indeed endorse (remember: "this is how we do things... and I'm ok with that"), shame on you.

We just wanted to take a minute and thank you for the delicious meals and desserts that you prepared for our retreat this time around. Everything was absolutely delicious and our guests were just as impressed with everything as we were.



Thank you for your mindfulness in each aspect of the catering experience from the prompt, helpful communication as we planned the event to the delivery, delicious meals, and anticipating our needs for serving everything.



We are putting together our 2015 calendar in the next several weeks and look forward to being in touch to get our next retreat on the calendar.

Gave one star only because I couldn t give 0. I went in with some Groupons. I was told I could only use one, which is fair enough. But I was there with my husband and the owner refused to even let us each use one, saying that Groupon would not allow that (not true). He then started complaining about how little money he makes when people use the Groupons (then why did he sign up for them?) I explained to him that we were buying meat for a cookout for my uncle, who was just diagnosed with cancer, and asked if we could at least each use one, which was NOT against any polices, and he refused. He was very obnoxious about it also. Will use up my Groupons one by one because I paid for them, but will not be back after that.

Gem is our hero! "Catering by Gem" at Hayes Meats catered our daughter's wedding at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. The food was beautifully presented, plentiful, and fabulous. Our guests feasted and raved about the food. The servers were attentive and extremely helpful, but the best part of all is that our caterer saved the day! The night before the wedding we discovered that we were short on table linens, and Gem helped us out. Then, on the day of the wedding, we discovered that the country club had not provided champagne (as was in our contract). Gem went to the store for us, bought champagne and glasses, and absolutely saved the day while we danced with the bride. We would not have had a champagne toast if it weren't for his willingness to go the extra mile to take care of us. We cannot say enough good things about the whole operation. Professional and outstanding in every way, we highly recommend their services.

Hayes Meats & Gourmet Foods has the BEST meat this side of the Mississippi. I would not feed my family anything else. Their meat is so fresh and the cost is very reasonable. Also, you cannot get a friendlier staff than the one at Hayes. Keep up the great work! Me and my family will definitely be back!
