Trying to take a step back before I type things that shouldn't be typed..... Dr. Mclroy for a man that states he has been doing this for over 30 years and has four children of his own has avery poor way with kids. Now mind you that I am a protective parent(who isn't) and my 6 yr old daughter is very shy. He treated he like she was at boot camp, very short with her and very rude. Im not sure if he was just having a bad day or what, but he's lucky not to have been knocked on his rear for talking to a 6 yr old like that, again protective daddy! I would recommend seeing a auto mechanic to check your eyes before ever stepping foot in this place. yeah think about that for a minute. again please, please, don't take your kids here, there has to be a better option that this!

If you are considering Dr. M...

If you are considering Dr. McElroy at Meridian Vision I would strongly recommend you do not go ever.

I haven’t had glasses very long and I went to Dr. McElroy with a previous prescription. I told him that it was incorrect, that it gave me migraines, it did not improve my vision and that I could not see my computer at work, drive well, read easily and had no depth perception.

I only have benefits for once a year and after vomiting from migraines for a year, I wasn’t going to leave my glasses prescription up to miscommunication so I was very specific when I told him my vision concerns.

During the very swift exam, my interrupted questions about why the “better lens” options he showed were blurry were ignored. By the end of the exam, I hadn’t seen through any lenses that I felt comfortable with, but I was assured that all my vision concerns would be solved.

Fast forward – I get my glasses and 10 minutes later I call the office because I can’t see.

Message taken, am promised a call back – no call. Call back the next day after no call all morning and am told that only the doctor and Debbie the office manager know the answer to my problem and Debbie is out. So I ask if I can speak to the doctor and am told I will get a call back.

Then unfolds a series of weeks of hedging and call backs from Debbie the office manager who is probably the rudest and most dishonest person from a medical office I have ever dealt with. They use this woman as a shield and she takes the job with pride.

I was told that the Doctor could not speak with me on the phone because if he called back his patients he would spend all his days on the phone. He eventually did leave me a voicemail but refused to answer my questions.

Debbie and Dr. McElroy tag teamed avoiding telling me what Meridian Vision was prepared to do to correct the problem. (Keep in mind, I have glasses I can’t see through this whole time)

I had already used up my vision benefits at this point so I can’t go back in without knowing my costs. It took WEEKS for Meridian Vision to tell me that Dr. McElroy would see me for an exam free of charge. But he only agreed to give me an exam to and I quote “determine if your prescription is correct or not”

Debbie at Meridian Vision outright refused to tell me if Meridian Vision would or would not pay for my replacement lenses. She told me that only the doctor knew that. I then asked if I could speak with the doctor and she refused. So I asked her if she would ask the doctor she then said I was screaming, unreasonable and then hung up on me.

I eventually found out later through my insurance company that Meridian Vision would agree to swap out my lenes with a standard pre made bi focal lens (like you can get at any drug store without a prescription) (ps I’m in my 20’s and don’t need bi-focals) but they refused to replace, change or correct anything else that might be a problem. Keep in mind I still have not been examined since I called ten minutes after I got my glasses.

Meridian Vision refused to entertain the idea that they had done anything wrong, they said that if I had any problems with my vision it was because I wanted to read better but didn’t want bi-focals and it was my fault.

The reason I kept trying with Meridian Vision was because I had no more benefits and my insurance wouldn’t pay for anything else. I finally gave up and went elsewhere at 100% personal cost. It’s a good thing I did though. I went to Costco and lo and behold I have astigmatism Dr. McElroy completely missed! Also, I do not exaggerate when I say that my doctor at Costco was horrified when he realized that a doctor had sent me driving on the road in that prescription.

If you’ve seen this review somewhere else, please know that it is precisely because I am so sincere that I am posting it everywhere I can. I wish someone had wrote a review like this before I had gone to Meridian Vision.
