INCREDIBLE BAJA STYLE MEXICAN FOOD IN MEMPHIS!! Instantly recognizing the Filiberto's taco logo from my time spent around the Phoenix area, I decided to pop in for lunch on a whim. I didn't really know what to expect or how it would compare to the other **berto's restaurants that dominate the San Diego burrito scene. So what did I think? OMG, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in this city--and I've already dropped a couple of 5-star reviews on other places. Filiberto's, however, takes the cake BY FAR!! Let me break it down in layman's terms for the casual eater looking for a great food experience: (1) Absolutely the BEST CARNE ASADA BURRITOS in town! For those that are not familiar with Cali-style burritos, a carne asada burrito has no rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, or sour cream. Rather, it is loaded with about 1 1/2 pounds of marinated steak (diced), pico de gallo, and guacamole...and it is meant to be picked up and eaten with your hands, so there is no sauce on top. Again, this is not Tex-Mex, Michoacan, Guadalajaran, or Veracruz-style Mexican food. This is serious Baja-Mex, and it is THE BOMB! One bite into my delectable baby-sized burrito, and I was instantly flashing back to the West Coast. Yes, it was that good. (2) CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!! My burrito was less than 6 bucks. Yes, a 2 pound burrito for under $6. Unreal. That is more than $3 CHEAPER than Elena's Taco Shop on the corner of Summer and Raleigh LaGrange (which is also very good, by the way). My chicken taco (also incredible) was under $2. And when I finished my meal of pure awesomeness, I was given a flyer with additional Filiberto's coupons, one of which advertises a pollo asado burrito for 3 bucks (limit 3)! Yes..totally legit $3 burritos that weigh about 2 pounds. I am definitely coming back...SOON. (3) OPEN 24 HOURS. Wut-wut? You read that correctly. Get your Mexi munchies on anytime, 7 days a week. (4) DRIVE-THRU. Say no more. (5) FREE, SELF-SERVE CHIPS. Yep, that's right. Take as many hot, freshly salted tortilla chips to accompany your rockin' taco, burrito, or rolled tacos. (6) SALSA BAR. At least 4 different delicious salsas to dabble with. The green tomatillo salsa is off the chain. Oh, and don't forget to grab a cup full of hot carrots while you're at it. (7) PRO-MILITARY. Yeah, I know some people won't care about this, but if you show your military ID, you get an ADDITIONAL 15% OFF your already cheap, delicious order. Can't beat that. For all the aforementioned reasons, Filiberto's is a restaurant that you MUST HAVE in your regular rotation. Memphis people, I can't implore you enough to PUH-LEASE patronize this place and keep its doors open. It's only been there since late July, but give Filiberto's a try...I promise you will love it!!
Every thing about this place is Authentic! Prices are LOW. $7 huge fajita nacho anywhere else? Salsa and the Tortilla chips are made there (ask for the white cheese to try as well). Customer service has been good every time. Had an incident there with spilled drinks, but that was no matter because the manager gave all 3 of us a free night of meals! On Fridays come early because the crowd gets wild and it is REAL Mexican Tequila, not an environment for children at that time. The cooks are Mexican and they eat everything on their menu. Make sure when you speak, you speak clearly because some of their English is not the best, but they understand if you either point it out on the menu, speak some Spanish (polo =/= pollo), or speak very clearly. Estoy Happy Mexican!
If you have never been to Moe's before, be prepared to hear a loud "Welcome to Moe's!" from all the staff as soon as you walk in. Also be prepared for giant sized portions of delicious food, fast & friendly service, and a pretty much build-your-own everything. They have a menu up front, but don't let the prices fool you--you will get way more food for a more than reasonable price. Their chips and variety of salsas are always free, and the cheese dip is super yummy. The store is clean and has a comfortable atmosphere. I will keep returning to Moe's for a great dining experience. (:
I am from Texas and moved to Tennessee just over a year ago. I tried several Mexican restaurants here, and hadn't even come close to "good" Mexican food until I discovered this restaurant. Not only is the food fantastic, you'll get GREAT customer service (which doesn't really exist anymore), a clean restaurant, and reasonable prices. Also, you will fall in love with the salsa! It's certainly not tomato sauce! My family and I are now regulars. We know with our hectic schedules we can get in, get good service, have great food prepared quickly, pay a reasonable price, and get out.
If you are looking for a Hispanic restaurant with great food, friendly service, in a family environment, then this is your place. The food is amazing. It is easy to tell that everything is made from scratch (even the rice and beans!) and is made from quality ingredients. That is just something you don't get at the typical Mexican restaurant where things come pre-packaged, frozen, dry, and under-seasoned. Pus, the food was very reasonably priced! I can say for sure that I will be going back really soon!
Their food is excellent! Service is great. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Watch-out for those frozen Margaritas; they will sneak up on you. The Memphis Steppers eat there on most Tuesday's nights. After Steppin for 2 hours at Orange Mound Community Center, a cold Margarita on the patio is a relaxing gift to our body mind and spirit. Now that the temps are in the 50's, a warm bowl of Camaron soup with tortillas is what I'm having for lunch today. Peace & Blessings!
THERE'RE ALWAYS CONSTANT WITH MY ALPALMER DRINK, TACO BOWL & A BOWL OF RICE ON THE SIDE! AND IT'S SWEET WHEN THE EMPLOYEES REMEMBER US WHEN MRS. EMILY & I DINE THERE BECAUSE THEY ALREADY KNOW WHAT WE WANT TO DRINK & HOW WE LIKE IT MADE! (ALPALMERS DRINKS-- LEMONADE WITH UNSWEETENED TEA & THE OTHER WITH SWEET TEA) THEY'RE ON POINT WITH GREAT SERVICE AND WONDERFUL COURTESY!
Their food is incredible, (most) of their female servers are hot, all of the staff is very friendly. I have gone here a million times in the past 10ish years and always have a wonderful experience. Most people who give negarive restaurant reviews are either overly picky and can never be pleased, or they're just cheap whiners who try to get everything for free. Kudos to OTB
I ate here on day with a friend. He and some of his church members along with myself went there and they told me about the Boarderito. It is burrito that is about 13" long and about 6"-8" round and it was the best burrito that I have ever had outside the ones that I make myself. I give them 6 out of 5 stars.
This Place is beautiful and has an enjoyable atmosphere. Its for any and everybody who loves Mexican Style Food Plus A Good Time. Trust Me whether you are with yourself, a friend, or family you will love it because the food is so delicious and the staff are very friendly and kind. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
