I moved to Texas, from Las Vegas, so I am no stranger to Del Taco. On our trips to southern California, we always stopped in at Del Taco in Barstow for the best Original Tacos. I often dreamt about them. So, needless to say, I was excited when the new Del Taco opened in McKinney. Until, I actually ate there. This store is way smaller, the service is hit/miss depending on what time you go, the dining room is always dirty when I arrive and the kitchen staff is suspect. I have tried this location a half dozen times and always leave disappointed over one thing or another. The most recent visit was with my teenage sons and that will be my last time eating there. While waiting for my order, I observed several disturbing things. 1) the overweight manager was wiping sweat from his face with a wadded paper towel, that he threw on the ground when he was done with it. This drew my attention to how dirty the kitchen was. 2) i watched the staff member in charge of the caldron of meat as she stirred and then tasted the meat from the spoon. Then, stirred again and tasted again! Really! The manager was two feet from her, so it was apparent that this is common practice. Shame on this crew and this store. Del Taco has standards and it is obvious that Texas is just not ready for those standards.
