I have eaten at Zuzhi a few times and I must say, I feel like the more time I spend inside, the more I feel like I'm not in McAllen. The ambiance is striking, with a flush of red and black colors, giving the restaurant a vivid vibe. The lights are not dimmed to an extreme as I have seen in some other restaurants. It seems that dimmed lighting inhibits your sight and ability to truly evaluate what you are sticking in your mouth (very important when it comes to raw fish) Modern artwork, aesthetic angles, and ample room shape the interior, giving Zuzhi a clean, inviting atmosphere. As far as the service goes, I have not had a problem; just ask for Victor. He took care of us and even offered some green tea ice-cream after our meal, which would have been a nice finish if I wasn't full from the generous portions in the "Sashimi lunch box". The lunch boxes are lunch specials varying from $7.00 to $10.00, well worth every penny of the $9.00 I spent. The food itself was not over-presented, but with just enough decoration to appeal to the avid sushi enthusiast. The tuna and salmon were cold, firm and fresh just as it should be. The rice was not lacking in vegetables, as I have seen in other sushi joints. However, I did notice the carrot garnish was a bit dry. Overall, Zuzhi was a positive experience. I left the establishment feeling like I didn’t break the bank, yet at the same time I left well fed. I am excited to return soon, maybe for dinner, as I hear they have live music in the evenings.
Bad service from both waiter and owner. This coming from a simple person who doesn't complain. I found a hair baked into my food, and hey I understand and still willing to pay, but the response from the restaurant staff was cold and insincere. Lack customer service skills.
Aftr making a local dlvry, i ws looking for smplc to eat whn i saw ths plc. it ws acrss frm a BK at the intersection of TX Hwy 115 and FM1016, whch i ws inclined to go into, but aftr moment decided against. Was tht a great decision or wht!!! ths plc has the Best SVC and GRREAT Tasting Food!! wht makes ths restaurant stand out, is the hospitality of Senior Gusto who ws my host, and the wonderful cooking done there. most places you go to of ths sort, bog own their food wth all sorts of dark or overly hot spices tht totally distract you frm being able to enjoy ur food. not so here!(Bravo to the cook!!) u gotta try the chicken tacos!!! the ones i had were so delicious tht aftr i ate them in my sleeper, i went bk to order more to tk wth me for later up the road as i ws on my way to va. and oh yeah!! u gotta try the refritos. they give u a small portion, whch is enuf to hook u, but aftr u eat tht, i bet u'll ask for more!! i sure did. and in a bigger tub as well. Senior Gusto, Muchas Gracias! u hv a new cutomer and i'm telling all the drivers i know tht come down ur way to stop in for a great meal.! MYSTIC
When my husband and I want to have great food and great service this is where we go. They have the best pizzas and although they do not have any tomato sauce they are exceptional. Everything that we have tried has been great and our standards are prettty high. We usually have the chile frito as an appetizer and share a goat cheese pizza for our entree. We have never been disappointed and their service is consistently great and well worth the money. The ambience is suited for a family dining experience as well as an adult dinner. It is intimate and they accomidate mostly all your needs. We have never been dissapointed. I love to bring out of town visitors and likewise they love it. Although some of the entrees can be pricey, overall the prices will not disappoint. Needless to say I would much rather pay a little extra for food that is actually prepared in the kitchen then for food that comes semi prepared and is just finished off in the kitchen. The best part is that they always make you feel welcomed...we always feel like we are part of the family.
