Laser Eye Surgery
Because your eyes are unique, your vision correction surgery should also be customized to your needs. Board-certified ophthalmologist Andrew Holzman is proud to offer the latest, most advanced form of corrective surgery at his practice locations in Washington, DC, and throughout Virginia and Maryland. Wavefront Optimized® LASIK is a surgery that uses your individual eye measurements to create a detailed, precise map of your eye. This map is then used to plan your LASIK surgery and ensure highly successful outcomes. Because of its ability to detect more visual errors than traditional methods, Wavefront Optimized is the preferred approach for patients who are not considered good candidates for standard LASIK.
Cataracts
Dr. Jonathan Solomon is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in laser cataract and refractive surgery. He is well known for his activity in the ophthalmic academic community, as well as for his spirit and compassion, which extend beyond the surgical theater. Dr. Solomon has been acknowledged by GQ Magazine in their “Men of the Year” issue, recognized nationally as one of the “Top Doctors in America” by his peers, and listed as one of Baltimore-Washington’s Super Doctors for 2013.
Cataract Surgery
Dr. Solomon works closely with the leading manufacturers of precision surgical equipment, including instruments and intraocular lens implants, and engages in a variety of studies. Some noteworthy studies include the FDA evaluation of accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking for the treatment of Keratoconus, Corneal Ectasia and the Visian Toric Phakic Intraocular Lens. Eye Exam
The Wavefront diagnostic system uses a low energy laser to map the eye of aberrations or imperfections that can cause vision impairment. Originally designed for the creation of optimized telescope lenses, the Wavefront technology has the ability to perform diagnostics that are up to 25 times more precise than a traditional eye exam.

Pregnancy
Labor and Delivery
For similar reasons, laser vision correction is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding unless special precautions are taken. In the months following childbirth (especially during breastfeeding), a woman could possibly continue to experience hormonal changes that can affect her vision. Additionally, the medications that are administered as part of the LASIK process could potentially enter the woman’s body, including her breast milk. It would be an extremely small amount, if any. To prevent any potential health-related issues, we recommend either a pump/dump approach for beast milk and/or pediatrician clearance if LASIK is performed while nursing.
