I love these vets at this clinic! Each and every one of them has always taken the best care of my beloved fur babies. I have been coming here since I was a small child, back then it was owned by Dr. Cleveland, and all the later owners and vets were wonderful. There was one vet tech who seemed a little rough and heavy handed, but she isn't there now. I regret that moving away is making me change vets, as it is a little too far to drive now... But I would stay here if I could. They showed me so much care when I lost my beloved dog to old age in 2009, and I have complete faith in their skills and compassion.

In Response to user DustyH
Mr Dusty Heist has contacted our clinic several times over an issue concerning his previous veterinarian. While trying to board his animals out of town the facility required proof of a vaccination. Mr Dusty Heist called us to have us verify the shot was given. We did not give this shot to his pet, nor did we have proof that it was given from a previous vet. We suggested he should receive this vaccine for his animals safety. Mr Dusty Heist had to get the shot at the facility in order to board there. Mr Dusty Heist is upset with us for not having a complete copy of records from his previous veterinarian. Mr Heist demanded that we reimburse him for the shot that was given and demanded we give him free services in the future or else he said he would find a new veterinarian and write a poor internet review. Mr Dusty Heist has demanded free services from us in the past. I told him that is not how we conduct business and that he should find a new veterinarian. I hope he finds some one who can better deal with his personality, although his pets were very nice.

Side note, City Search would not allow for a review without stars, so...... i gave us 5

This was our first/last experience.

Their approach (front office to owner) was ”McVet” = too many pet owners & incompetent rude front office staff.

One of our puppies (aka 4 legged child) was the victim of a brutal dog attack and we took her there as an emergency visit.

My wife had 2 bad experiences with the front office. I took the pup on the 3rd visit (more charges). 3rd trip saw a 3rd vet, thus a longer process / added frustration. At checkout, front office provided me with the wrong dog’s receipt on my paperwork. When I called back I got attitude from the front desk - they did no wrong.

After a week the puppy was not using her front leg. Returned to office (more charges), the vet provided meds & said to watch it for 2 days. No x-rays taken.

No improvement - back to vet (more charges) got a different vet…xray & cast; cast fell off within 2 weeks, wife called and told her "no one is here after a certain time so wait til next day" - Made wife cry. Wife dropped off pup- another $150.

On the day after Christmas my baby, which is a cat started choking. I didn't realize she had gotten into the tree and knocked down some of the ornaments. She had chewed through the hook of ornament and got it stuck in her throat. I called the Matthew Animal Clinic because it was the first one I saw. I asked how late they stayed open and the girl said 1pm. It was 11:53 and I told her it would take some time to get to their office would they be able to stay open just a little longer. She said let me check and I will let you know. Then she put me on hold. In about a minute I realized we had become disconnected or so I thought. I called back and was asked if I would hold. I told her no and she said thank you and put me on hold anyway. Then hung up on me again. I called back again and when they heard my voice they immediately hung up again. I tried calling back but they would not pick up. This was the only number I had and was too much in shock to think of calling another number. I was not able to save my cat. If I could give this vet a "0" rating I would. I would have contacted my lawyer if I thought it would have helped.

Dear Derek, we are terribly sorry for the loss of your cat. Please know that we would never maliciously hang up on anyone. We have recently changed from an analog to digital phone system and unfortunately are dealing with multiple problems. Our phone system has been dropping calls on hold and we have had several technicians out to work on the situation. Again I apologize to you and others that have experienced the dropped calls/ hang ups. Our carrier assures us they are doing everything they can to remedy our problems.

Saved my son's dog

My son's Jack Russel pup was involved in a horrible accident. Her upper & lower snout were crushed & broken in half. Her right front shoulder muscles were ripped to pieces. It looked worse than it sounds. I felt she would not survive or at least she would be permanently impaired.
Dr. Walker Meadows took her in to surgery for almost two hours. He wired her upper & lower snout back together & sewed up the muscles in her shoulder.
She regained 100% use of her mouth & she is the fastest dog around.
My son & I are very grateful to Dr. Meadows & their staff for all they did. We would never consider going anywhere else.

I took my new puppies here bec...

I took my new puppies here because it was close and city search had good recommendations (although I see 2 of the negative ones have been taken off since I initially researched). All negative comments I have seen have been regarding the way they treat their clients - this is in support of that.

There are certain front desk people who are plain rude and talk down to you. One example is when my puppy got neutered. He was very excited when I came to pick him up but was not supposed to be playful because of his surgery. Instead of reminding me to calm him down, the woman at the desk scolded him rudely and gave me an offhand comment about “he’ll be in soon”. Implying he was going to hurt himself.

One of the owners Dr. Walker Meadows is simply a jerk. The office lost files from our dog’s shot records. They denied losing the files. When I pointed out the file was for a shot required to board a dog and that they had boarded mine less than a month ago, they wouldn’t answer. They later changed their story a third time saying they had it and lost it but it wasn’t their responsibility since it was from separate vet. As we were out of town, when an emergency arose and the dogs needed to be boarded, we had no choice but to have another vet give the shot and pay for the shot and office visit.

I found this very unprofessional. Why did they ask for and try to keep important medical files if they were later comfortable losing them? What if an emergency arose and, because the vet lost files, something was done that should not have been done?

When I arrived back in town, I produced the original shot file they were given and had lost. I pointed this out to an office person. She said what do you want me to do about it. I requested they not lose my files from now on and waive our next general office visit fee to cover the cost of having to have the shot redone elsewhere. I was told no rudely. I replied I would be taking my puppies elsewhere as unprofessionalism, lost files and horrible customer service were not great selling points for me.

A couple weeks later, I received a call from Dr. Walker Meadows out of the blue saying I had asked for him to call. I replied I had not. When I tried to hang up he said “wait, what about the shot”. I said I had discussed it with his office, did not feel comfortable with the situation and was changing vets. He then accused me of blackmail. I asked him why. He said you wanted us to pay for the shot. I said no, I wanted you to not lose my dogs files and I asked if I were to stay if you would not pay for the shot, as you are saying, but waive my next office visit fee to your clinic for your mistake (I had never asked for this before, as he claims, but his wife had done it on her own initiative on another mistake the office made, so I did not find it to be an absurd request). None the less, he continued the rudeness I had become familiar with in his office.

My advice – don’t go here. You’re pets and your money are worth your vet keeping your files intact. My dogs are part of my family and my vet should treat them as such.

Awesome Clinic and Vet!

I just had a wonderful experience with Matthews Animal Clinic and Dr. Mary Getz. First I was amazed at how clean the building was and how nice it smelled. Secondly Dr. Getz handled puppy with great care and attention and was so good with her. She answered my questions in normal language that I understood and was not in a rush and made sure I understood everything that was going on and that I felt comfortable leaving the office. I now have my over excited puppy back home playing like normal when a few days ago I was not sure we were even going to have her anymore. Dr. Getz is a wonderful Dr. and you can tell she loves what she does!

full of it

I recently moved here and have been looking for a vet for our dog and 3 cats. Since I live close by I was reviewing Matthews Animal Clinic and what has been said. I take the reviews with a grain of salt but ...The overly glowing reviews about each doctor are so long and so specific and ALL written on the 9/12 or 9/13 makes me realize that these have been written by staff or friends of staff. No one appreciates such deception and definitely reflects on the ethics of the doctors at the hospital. I would of course expect them to deny this. However I do read reviews of alot of small businesses and have never seen multiple glowing reviews with such length all written on the same day. They are full of it and we see through it! I won't be going there!

Great Service IS EASY to Find!

I don't usually write reviews, but do rely on them when researching products and services so I hope mine helps shed some light on the EXCELLENT service we recieved from Dr. Brader and the staff at Matthews Animal Clinic.

Nobody knows their animals better than the owners. So, when it comes to medical needs, we are certainly no experts, but we do pay attention to their manorism and behavior. It is an unspoken language between owner and animal that is understood.

At Matthews Animal Clinic, Dr. Brader took the time to understand that language and listened to our concerned observations before he offered his thoughts.

How often do visits start with a medical analysis and hypotheticals from yoru Dr. before anything is asked from what you see? And, how often do you feel like you are being upsold when settling your bill or made to feel like a poor parent when not purchasing additionals?

There was none of that at Matthews Animal Clinic. Dr. Brader walked us through his proceedures from start to finish and communicated with words that left us fully educated and very comfortable. His professionalism assured us that our pet was in very experienced capable hands and more importantly, that he will be cared for and treated with the attention we would give ourselves.

If you want to find a place that listens to your cares and concerns and truly puts your pet first, Dr. Brader and Matthews Animal Clinic isn't hard to find.

Understand that when I used the words "animals" and "pets", they are meant to be replaced with "family member".
