What this restaurant has going...

What this restaurant has going for it is its location and the beer. The food is atrocious and lacking in inspiration. I think the best places in Massena to eat at are pizza hut with wing street and subway. Everything else...you might as well do some shopping at Wal-mart and cook an amazing home cooked meal. I'm pretty sure, a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese would have had a lot more flavor than what I ordered. I ordered a 4 cheese manacotti and it was completely tasteless and boring. My husband was disgusted with the veal parm. I will say the bread was good and the service was pretty decent. The owner looks like he's oblivious to the fact that his restaurant isn't going to be around much longer with the kind of food the kitchen is putting out. The brownie and ice cream was okay, but anyone with a brain can put together a dessert like that. It's too bad the owner doesn't invest in a real chef to put together a beautiful italian menu. There should be no excuse! You have Paul Smith's not too far away.

Well, as you can see by the stars, that about sums it up. Sat on the Patio overlooking the River, that was nice but it went downhill after that. Ordered the Steamers, WHERE’S THE GARLIC, The Clams were steamed with no additional flavor and the Butter had no Garlic. Ordered the Special Scallops with Mushroom Marsala Sauce. Scallops and Pasta over cooked and the sauce had the consistency of water, I could taste the Marsala but that was all. My Wife had the Antipasto Salad, very average, whole slices of Salami, Provolone on a bed of Romaine. At this point I’m thinking they are having an off night and I really like the atmosphere but then my Wife found a hair in her salad. Amanda the server gave a cursory apology and presented us with the bill with included the Salad on it. I demanded to see the Manage and Amanda offered to take the salad off the bill. I still asked to see that manager. Manager never appeared, Salad was taken off the bill, and Amanda with a little short on her gratuity for the night. I think it’s safe to say we will not be back….

If you are looking for a good ...

If you are looking for a good quality dining experience (or even an average experience), T & T Famiglia is not the restaurant for you. In a nice eating establishment, it is generally expected that the basics, such as glasses of ice water and maybe a basket of bread, are provided shortly after arrival, but at this restaurant, you will need to specifically ask for these items (and even then, the bread was nothing to write home about). Salads do not come with the meal. I know that some restaurants have begun to make salads an add-on item, but for $14.95 a plate, I expect a salad to come with my meal. We ordered Chicken Francaise, which is supposed to have a light lemony sauce, but instead, the sauce was very runny and tasted overpoweringly of wine (no lemon was detected). Portions were small (by about half as much) compared to those served in similarly-priced restaurants (such as Sabad's in Norfolk), with sides of greasy roasted potatoes, overcooked squash, and a single dry piece of plain toast. When we complained to the owner, his response was very nonchalant (and of course he did not offer to compensate us in any way, or even apologize for our experience). We left feeling extremely unsatisfied with our meal, and wishing that we had instead stuck with a proven favorite, such as Sabad's, or Violi's in Massena. At least we would have gotten our money's worth and then some at those establishments. The only good thing about our dining experience was our waitress. She was very friendly, attentive, and efficient, and she did express sincere apologies for our meals. I feel sorry for her, because if her tips reflect the quality of the meals at T & T Famiglia, she will soon need to look for another job to make ends meet.
