Overall
Since the remodeling of Berkel...

Since the remodeling of Berkeley Theater, I've found the experience of watching a low cost movie more enjoyable. The concessions make a fine array of offers, at a low cost as well, and the theater is clean, the sound is good and the fire exits are very visible, so I also feel safe. My only complaint is this web-site that does not give enough informatiion about the features offered. Is it 3D, Dolby, surround sound, reccomended or not reccomeneded for the visually or hearing impaired, are all considerations that would make a difference to many whom are looking forward to an entertaining experience. My complaint about movie theaters in general is the lack of wheel chair access for the handicapped to share the experience with the ones that love them. I hope this will change soon. Berkeley Theater, you were missed after the fire, so welcome back and forge ahead.

A negative review that complained about the rudeness and misinformation is correct that any business should prize thier customers and offer the best of considerations. The customer needs the most accurate information to make appropriate and satisfying decisions and any business that disrespects the customer should expect to lose business. Yet it's not a perfect world, never has been and never will be, it's a worthy goal if not unrealistic. I hope the businesses that offend will practice making ammends and retribution. I also hope we will give our family owned, small businesses a chance by submitting complaints and accessible reply media to work towards a better environment, not just here in our small town but everywhere. Thank You!

I started frequenting the Be...

I started frequenting the Berkeley Theater with my fiancée and friends about 2 months ago because we're new to the area. In that short period of time we've been to Berkeley Theater roughly 10 times because my fiancee and I are huge cinephiles. The price is right and the theater has a 'retro' feel that we enjoyed. Also-there's never anyone there so it's nice to watch a movie without distractions. But after our last experience-I now know why there's never anyone there...and why my friends and I will never go back:

Four of us went to see a film on Oct 4th that was supposed to start at 9:20PM according to their website and what was printed on our tickets. We walked into the theater itself at 9:14 (I know because I checked my watch to make sure we didn't happen to get there late)...and the film had obviously been playing for several minutes already. When our group went to the cashier to inquire about the error-we were treated EXTREMELY rudely by a young man who I assume was the manager on duty. He told us that there was nothing he could do about it, and argued with us that the projectionist wouldn't have started the film early. If he would have walked into the theater he would have clearly seen that it was playing early. At that point I asked what they would do to fix the situation-and the young man handed my friend four movie passes. I figured that was their way of saying 'sorry'-so we started to head back into the theater. We were already there-we figured we'd make the best of a bad situation. But when we started to walk back in-the young man snatched the tickets out of my friend's hand and said he 'wasn't going to give us free tickets AND watch the movie...'. At this point I was furious and asked for our money back so we could go catch the 10:10 showing at Regal. The young man flatly refused and said they don't offer refunds...no exceptions. We walked out of the theater at 9:18...2 minutes before it was even slated to start!!! Needless to say-Berekely Theater 7 robbed our group of $24 for a film we never got to see.

I have sent an email to owner Bob Elliott explaining why we, as once loyal customers, will NEVER frequent his establishment again-and I am posting this review on as many sites as possible in hopes of warning others.

In this day and age, and in this economy-rude behavior by employees whose salaries I pay will not be tolerated. I would always choose to support 'mom-and-pop' businesses over the large chains...but not after being called a liar and made to feel unwelcome in an establishment that I was frequenting regularly. I know that if I had ever acted that way to paying customers at any job I've ever worked at-I would've been fired on the spot. Hopefully Mr. Elliott and his staff will reconsider their customer-service skills in the future. No one deserves to be treated the way our group was treated.

The Berkeley Plaza Theatre is the best place to go!

The Berkeley Plaza Theatre is the best Theatre in Martinsburg,WV or the hole four state area. There Theatre is one of the best because there prices are cheap and there Employees are the best. They don't have sticky floors anymore because they remoled it. They have the best popcorn in town and they don't have bugs all throw there popcorn like everyone said. I highly recommend you go there because there popcorn is awsome and they have the best prices $6.00 and $4.00. Want to go to the movies
