Porky's Bayside

We just saw you on TV. We live in Charleston SC and are coming to see you for sure! I read the yellow pages review and the last review was crazy. I do not know where they are from. but iin Charleston, you tell the waitress if you want a seperate bill, Also in Charleston gratutity for 5 people or more is 15% to 20%! We will be there in Octorber!

Porky's is a favorite of mine. BBQ is always delicious, as is everything else. Friendly atmosphere and a great place to meet locals for happy hour. It's an authentic Keys eatery, the perfect place to chill out and get into the island attitude.

We have eaten at Porkys 3 times with the last experience being the finale. This is our findings-

Porkys has perfected the 'shaby shack' restaraunt look with all the dusty nautical items covering the ceiling.

Porkys has not perfected the dishes that that they claim to be famous for. The ribs do not 'fall off the bone' as the menu states. If you get the rib special, you will get bones that do not look like ribs at all, but more like spine and grissle. These are very tough and hard to eat. 'All you can eat' is reached on your first plate because you won't want any more.

On one visit I ordered bisque, and it was grainy and lacked flavors.

The bathrooms are not clean and are in need of new fixtures, flooring and toilet paper.

The wait staff will not ask you if everyone at your table is on one ticket, They will put you all on one ticket, then drop it in the middle of the table for - who ever? They automatically add 18% gratuity to your ticket for 5 or more people and this may be why they do it. If you ask them to separate the ticket, they will let you know that it is your fault you rec'd 1 ticket.

A peek into the kitchen should send you looking for another experience and there are thousands of places to eat in the keys- so why stop at Porkys??
