Once Upon A Child

This was definitely one for the books! We took clothes and other items to this store and were told it would be an hour before they would be done going through everything, so we went on our way, ran some errands, and came back about two hours later. They still weren't done going through everything. About 20 minutes later, they were done. We walked in with four bags full and they gave us three back... Really?! Now I know a small percentage of the clothes were given to us by friends who had girls but everything else was either new to us or some even still had tags! I brought the clothes home to see what they took and they barely took anything! A few items still had the tags on them, new baby shoes, and brand name clothing was still in the bags. I'm sorry but what else could they want? Gently used, name brand clothes and they still didn't take it?? I'm confused.



Regardless, after they "looked" at the clothes, they threw the clothes back in the bags causing them to wrinkle and many were unfolded. More work for me! This was the first time I went here and it will definitely be my last! They don't deserve your time and business!



By the way, the "kids area" in the store looked extremely dirty, I could only imagine what my children could catch playing in there!

I brought in very good to excellent clothing that my six month old son had just grown out of, so they were not out of date. I washed everything, pulled out anything that had even the slightest stain, packed it all nicely and brought it in. I also had a few other BRAND NEW accessories, shoes and other items that still had tags. The manager took the things I had in packages that were brand new, pulled them out and then didn't even attempt to put them back - then told the cashier that he wasn't taking anything because it was all stained and unwashed and not in date. I was SO upset because a lot of the merchandise in that store is absolute GARBAGE. Shoes that are dirty and have holes, clothes that are so badly faded that you can't even identify the pattern and dirty toys. Needless to say, the manager didn't speak to me, he had the cashier do it. I made sure she knew he had lied. They only want brand new, name brand stuff they can buy for $1 to sell it for $5. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

I left a crib for evaluation that I had just taken apart, cleaned and checked after moving my son to a "big" bed. I received a call & was told it was broken, they weren't buying it and I should come pick it up. When I arrived, they showed me a piece with the top rail off and pieces falling out. They told me it must be old or not good quality. The crib was expensive and used by 1 child!! Someone there must have dropped or mis-handled it for that much damage to be done. It also had several new scratches. A dog was behind the counter so... The owner was so anxious to get me out the door that he sat some of the pieces of the crib on the sidewalk outside the door like trash, while I was carrying out some of the others. It was humiliating on top of being frustrating. I won't be back and recommend you don't bother.

If you have another option, I would suggest skipping this shop for consigning your used clothes. The selection is fine and they have a play area for kids, but they tend to not be very honest when buying clothes. When refusing clothes instead of simply saying they couldn't take them, everytime I've had them reject clothes they tend to be insulting as to why. I had them tell me on different that my clothes smelled like they'd been in a smokers house then

The thing that made me stop usin them all together was that the first time they denied my entire tub of clothes I noticed after I got home that there were specific peices of clothes missing. Everytime thereafter I kept track of the number of clothes, and the next time an entire tub of clothes was denied I went through it right in front of them, and sure enough there were 7 articles missing, only the higher end ones, like OshKosh B'Gosh and Gap Baby. I told them exactly what was missing and they magically appeared from a stack of clothes waiting to be tagged. They blamed customers children getting behind the counter instead of simply telling me it was an oversight or mistake on their part. Bottom line, I'd stay right there with them while they go through your clothes, or offer to return later when ask you to drop and leave, which is mst often the case.
