Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), formerly known as Northern Virginia Technical College, is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Virginia. Established in 1964, it maintains a communications technologies and social sciences division that offers programs in accounting, business management, economics, finance, history and marketing, as well as French and Spanish. Northern Virginia Community College also has a science and applied technologies division that provides classes in biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, developmental mathematics, geology, health and physical education. The college offers a variety of student services related to advising and counseling, disability, tutoring and financial assistance. Virginia Technical College operates a library that provides a range of books and reference materials. Additionally, it administers the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The college is a part of the Virginia Community College System, which maintains various colleges. Northern Virginia Community College maintains a location in Manassas, Va.
