Schedule an appointment to have your pets oral health evaluated by our veterinarian. Dental disease can be graded into four stages. Based on these stages, recommendations can be made for an ultrasonic scaling and polishing procedure, if one is necessary. This stage number will also allow our staff to give you an estimate based on the degree of involvement and time that procedure will take.

Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
Dr. Daniels' family includes three dogs and two cats. Gator, a jack russell terrier, Austin a shepherd/lab mix, and Marmalade a ginger domestic shorthair cat. Gator was a stray hit by car that Dr. Daniels and Dr. Griffin (from Animal care center) surgically repaired fractures to both his rear legs. He had a successful recovery and has a spunky character. Austin is a rescue dog found playing in traffic. Uninjured but also unowned, he joined the Daniels family. Marmalade was found by Dr. Daniels sister after receiving a tip that she was thrown in a dumpster. After surviving an illness, she is living a very healthy life. The new feline edition to the family is Duckie - a domestic shorthair kitten rescued by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Just 12 weeks old - it was love at first paw - she is getting adjusted to the Daniels household in a playful yet mischievous way. The newest canine addition is Rocky. Rocky was an abandoned dog that was heartworm positive and needed extensive surgery to repair lesions to his skin and musculature. Dr. Daniels and her staff volunteered to surgically repair Rocky's wounds and treat his heartworm disease and in the process of his foster care at Dr. Daniels' house, he became a permanent part of the family.
Pain Management
Under general anesthesia, probing and charting of teeth document changes present. All teeth are scaled ultrasonically and then polished. A flouride treatment is applied. If removal of large amounts of plaques reveal cavities, fractured or damaged teeth - that tooth can be extracted. Pain medication and anti-inflammatories are administered, as well as antibiotics if infection is a concern.
Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
Canine influenza has emerged as a serious cause of canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) complex in recent years. First identified in 2003 in Florida, it is now widespread, with documented occurrences in 30 states and the District of Columbia.

Anesthesia is formulated and administered based on pre-anesthetic testing, individual health status and is specific to the species and breed of each patient. Monitoring includes ECG, heart rate, respiration, oxygen saturation, CO2, temperature, and blood pressure of all surgical and dentistry procedures. All patients have an intravenous catheter placed and are given peri-operative fluid therapy. Our on-site autoclave sterilizes all surgical instruments prior to each procedure.
