Our doctors, Anthony Girardi, Kelly Jones and Amber Severin, along with our staff, value each patient and place special focus on patient comfort, patient expectations and patient education. This website has been designed to guide you through understanding the endodontic treatment process and introduce you to our office. We understand that this may be your first experience with endodontic (root canal) procedures or perhaps you have had treatment in the past but want to know more about the modern approach to root canal treatments. As you review this site you may have specific questions or concerns that you would like further information on. Please call or visit our office and we will be happy to assist you.
Patient Comfort:
The first question most patients ask when considering a root canal treatment is Will it hurt? Endodontic treatment in the past was known for its painful reputation. Some patients will come to our office in pain due to the need for endodontic treatment. However, we have techniques, anesthetics and medications that allow for most endodontic procedures to be nearly pain-free. Anesthetic injections are required to provide numbing. Root canal treatment usually requires more anesthetic than other dental procedures because of inflammation or infection that has developed inside and around the tooth. As specialists we see patients who have some of the most hyper-sensitive teeth requiring treatment. We have advanced training that allows us to assess the level of numbness prior to beginning any work. Additionally we always communicate with our patients during treatment to make sure they are comfortable.
We also offer other comfort items to patients during their visit. Pillows, blankets, headphones and music are available. Some patients prefer to use Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, during treatment to promote relaxation. Each patient has his or her own needs and concerns and we accommodate accordingly.
Patient Expectations and
Being diagnosed with an infection within your root canal system is probably the last thing you want. Fortunately, there is a root canal therapy option that is more comfortable than standard root canal treatment and reaches into the microscopic spaces of the root canal system that standard RCT cannot!
Apicoectomy
