When looking for a martial arts school to train at, customers must realize that this is a very traditional style of martial arts. that means the focus of the school is on forms, which means there is not a lot of focus on practical martial arts or self defense. Practical self defense is taught in the system, but from my experience, it was not very practical and everything seemed over the top. The instructor is a great guy and he really knows the material. Unfortunately, the material in the system is not something someone could use to practically defend himself. If you are looking for a martial arts system to get in a little bit better shape, then this is definitely for you. If you are looking for a system to learn real life, practical martial arts, I would not recommend it.
I've been training with my son at this school for several years. The instructors and instruction are top notch and the styles (Shaolin Kempo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) are among the most effective. They're not a black belt factory and you don't have to sign a contract like so many other places in town. I highly recommend them.
