Business Description
In 1883, Barney Kroger, with only $372, opened a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. More than 120 years later, as the supermarket business has evolved into a variety of formats aimed at satisfying the ever-changing needs of shoppers, Kroger has grown to over 2,500 stores in 31 states under two-dozen banners and annual sales of more than $66 billion. Today, Kroger ranks as one of the nation s largest retailers. Kroger has pioneered many innovations in the supermarket industry. During the 1930s, it was the first grocery chain to monitor product quality and test foods. In 1972, Kroger became the first grocery retailer in America to test an electronic scanner. It was installed in a store in suburban Cincinnati. Technology plays an important role in Kroger s store operations, with more than 1,600 Kroger stores offering self-checkout. Kroger spans many states with store formats that include grocery and multidepartment stores, convenience stores and mall jewelry stores. Among the brands it operates are Fred Meyer, Ralph s, Fry s, Baker s, Food4Less, KwikStop and Tom Thumb. Kroger is headquartered in Cincinnati, and maintains a store in Louisville, Ky.

This store is huge! Unlike the other stores in the area it stays clean and your never rubbing up against other people trying to squeeze threw the store. I appreciate having this Kroger in my neighborhood.

As stereotypical as every store in the west end of Louisville. Someone always thinks your stealing. Had a employee named Walter ask me "ma'am are you planning on paying for that stuff in the bottom of your stroller?" and asked if I had anything in my purse. In fact I was planning on paying, I paid for my order with credit and my 68 cancer stricken Grandmother's order with cash that was still sitting in the bottom of my stroller until I finished my order and grabbed my bags. Then the guy says I been watching you. Honestly, it was an insult and a shame that he had been watching me struggle through the store trying to balance a hand cart on top of my 10 month old baby's stroller filled to the brim and using the bottom of her stroller as extra space. As if I was to push her and drag behind me a cart. When I asked the kid if he wanted to check my purse he says "no, I believe you" smugly and goes back to hiding where ever he had been preying on the next single mother with baby in tow try to buy groceries. Unacceptable! If I could give these store a score lower than 1 star I would. Beware.

Simply Marvelous

I have shopped at this wonderful store for many years with the wonderful fish selections, and excellent display of market product to purchase. The staff is always helpful and the Manager Lavelle always take the extra mile making sure the customers are knowlegable where the products are located. My hat's his tip the staff and the Ms. Lavelle. Keep up the great works!
