This review may be a tad bit lengthy but I thought everyone should know. I have to be honest, I was beyond nervous about putting my 14 month old in daycare for the first time. The thought of it made me sick. But I had to work...I visited several centers and some were ok and some were really bad. Then there were those that wanted a house payment per week!! Anyway, I called the owner of The Oak School and went for a visit. The atmosphere was immediately welcoming. Even the colors on the walls were warm and friendly. So, I immediately started thinking to myself, ok the paint on the walls are covering up for something I'm not going to like... But, guess what? After my tour of the center (which lasted about 45 minutes) and after meeting the teachers I couldn't believe it. Everyone was fantastic and it wasn't the fake fantastic, it was genuine. They offer surveillance so you can watch your child while at work (big plus for me!) All the teachers go through extra childcare courses through the year (most places hire high schoolers to watch the kids)Needless to say, I signed my son up to attend there. Now, the truth be told, my son had a really hard first few days being around strange people and new routines. They have gone out of there way to help him adjust. His teacher even called me the first few days to tell me how he was doing. You would think they would only call to say say he is having a bad day, or to tell me to come pick him up. Not the case... If I could rate this facility 6 stars, I would. Good luck in your search and I hope you find the right place for your child.

OMG! Tom M., usually when a person is referring to another service, environment, or another person, such person or people tend to imply that such other services, environments, or other people are not a good fit based on our desires, needs, or standards. It seems like you are not a fit for the program provided at this educational center. I will share a personal experience with you and the rest of the audience. When I had my second child I was not able to have my child attend this center and it was the most hurtful experience so far I as a parent have provided for my own child because JCPS has not been able to help my child to read and or write. Luckily my child is very good with math and very artistic so her father decided to hire tutoring services last October 2014 and after 4 months of constant training my child is getting close to grade level. You might ask how can I make such observation, well my first child was lucky enough to attend this center and then my third child was also lucky to attend and the outcome has been outstanding! Your level of sophistication is so elevated that reaches the maximum level of ignorance. To leave in such advanced nation and to encounter so much intolerance is extremely sad. Did you know in other nations (3rd world countries) the Presidents strive to eliminate ignorance which is worst that being stupid. I'm really sorry an opportunity was being wasted....your opportunity. Good luck in your search. Sincerely a thankful parent.
My daughter has been going to Discovery for a while now and we're very happy. The teachers do a great job and the owners and directors are very involved in all of the classrooms. Seeing them spending time in all the rooms, lending a hand when needed, and helping to keep everything organized makes it feel very cohesive and family-like. The teachers do a lot to work with the kids on their preschool/pre-k skills, and they help kids learn to work through all the social challenges of daycare and school. The center is also great about making things fun -- they always have cute projects, celebration days, special guests (Mr. Magic is definitely a favorite!), etc. Summers are especially fun. Our first summer there we were really surprised at how much they do for the kids. (There's usually a special thing each week -- water slide, bouncy house, sno cones, animals to pet and learn about, theme weeks, etc.). We feel comfortable that our daughter is in great hands. Most importantly, she likes it. Visit a few other daycares and I guarantee you'll notice a difference at this one. It's not just a place to watch your kids-- they really have a sense of pride in their work and want to go above and beyond.
