You cannot beat the Golden Buddha for quality, huge portions and price! I have not found a dish, especially on their combination plate specials (available all day) that isn't delicious. The portions are incredibly generous--I usually get stuffed half way through my meal, or sometimes we all get different stuff and create a mini buffet! The soups are excellent; the only one I am not crazy about is the egg drop--it has corn in it and I just don't care for the crisp texture in a soup that would otherwise be creamy in texture. The hot n sour though is excellent, even if heated the next day for lunch. The restaurant is clean, which is important to me. I have seen their health department ratings, which I pay attention to, and been pleased to see A's! My families favorites are the pork chow mein, chicken lo mein, sweet n sour chicken (which you can also request all white and extra crispy or well done) and mushroom beef. The beef is a flank type cut, but when marinated, is still very tender and juicy. You won't find a better restaurant for service, quality, price and portion! Suffice it to say when I call in my carry out order, they generally say, Ms. Rowe? We eat there a lot!
Wow, where do I begin? Ribs that are moist, tender yet have some bite pull to them, flavorful as barbecue ought to be, and meaty! No anorexic ribs at Famous Dave's! The same goes for the rib tips, which is the first I've seen to have the amount of meat on them they do. Chicken of two styles is always good and moist, never dry. Brisket is SO tender and flavorful, it just melts in your mouth. Pulled pork is quite yummy as well, although I personally don't care for pulled pork that often. And although you'll order two sides with your meal, they put corn on the cob and sweet cornbread muffin with real butter on your plate in addition as it comes with dinners! Five sauces on the tables await your curiosity to delve in and bring your fork full up a notch or two. Or three! Friendly, courteous, and personable wait staff, along with management, round this place out to get all five stars easily. Now, where is my bib?
I've been to Nalley's more than 10 times, and have been impressed each time. You walk into the main diner, and are greeted by friendly staff who know the regular's names. There are booths for 4 in the front, larger tables in the back. Their menu for breakfast is simple and extremely affordable. I've taken numerous friends there who tell me the denver omlette is the best they've ever had.. and at their prices, this is a real treat. The biscuits and gravy are fantastic and are about 2.35! The lunch is also fabulous. Burgers and fries are recommended. It's well known by people in the area, but that is a shame. More folks should venture to Nalley's downtown and enjoy. It's located 2 doors down from Olley's Trolley at 3rd and Kentucky. You won't regret it. One other thing: it's CASH ONLY. But you'll only need about 10 bucks for 2 to eat breakfast.
