A visit to Firehouse Subs will definitely brighten anyone's day the moment you walk in the door. It's almost like walking into "Cheers", where everyone knows your name. The feisty staff greets you with a hearty "Welcome to Firehouse!" and they mean it! Their food is definitely not your run-of-the-mill sub menu. My personal favorite is the Hook and Ladder as well - you will not see a sub like this one at Jimmy Johns or Subway. Their fresh, warm rolls almost seem like they are made in-house --- whatever brand of Virginia Honey Ham they use has a flavor like none I've ever tasted - once you taste Firehouse subs you will never go back to Jimmy Johns - guaranteed! The Hook and Ladder will definitely get you hooked! Firehouse's Steak and Cheese sub is to die for, and should aptly be renamed "The Philly Cheese Steak" - there's none closer to the prime cheese steaks one gets at the Italian Market in Philly - complete with peppers and onions. A definite PASS! The restaurant is ALWAYS impeccably clean, and the firehouse affect complete with firemen's coats and hats hanging on the wall makes one wonder where the Dalmation is! Lastly, pay special attention to their dill pickles. I do not know where they get these from, but these are the BEST most flavorful dill pickles you will ever eat. The staff is delightful and they enjoy what they do, and have every reason to be proud of Firehouse Subs and the concept behind them! And don't forget to get your "frequent flyer" card - after buying 9 you get one free - complete with chips and drink! Rating: 5 STARS Flavor Rating: A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I recently went to Big Burger in Oxmoor Mall, and as I am usually skeptical about trying new restaurants, my friends who work in the mall quickly shot down my fears, promising a great experience. When ordering I was surprised at the generosity of the employees, and the amount of different choices they offered. I ordered a cheeseburger & was shocked when they started to grill it right in front of me. With most places only offering frozen beef, they are one of few that have made to order food, and it is what i think sets Big Burger apart from other choices in the food court. They also offer about 20 different beverage choices, more than anywhere I've seen, definitely something for everyone. i highly recommend getting a burger, ANY KIND of burger, and I can promise you will go back.
I had high hopes for this place, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be a semi-fast food place (like Qdoba, but with stir fry). The approach and quality was along those lines, but before standing in line to pick your ingredients, you had a server come to your table to ask what size bowl you wanted, and bring you a drink. *so you end up having to tip for that fast food) My food was good. My husbands food was terrible. The tables are squished in there like sardines in a can. Seating arrangement was very akward and unfomfortable. In the end, the was good if you chose the right things, but we had two small bowls of stir fry and two sodas, and a grand total of $27 plus tip. All in all, I left feeling guilty for spending that much money on what we got :(
