I absolutely love this place! I can't believe that I've lived in Louisville most of my life without finding it sooner. The Red Barn is a very small antique mall, but it makes up for that with a neat shop and friendly personnel. I was able to look through every booth in the place in less than ten minutes, but I did find something to buy at a very reasonable price. It was a relief to be able to go into an antique mall without feeling as though I was on an all day expedition. The Red Barn has a very nice selection of antiques, but you won't have to waste hours wading through a lot of things that don't interest you. It's just big enough to have a nice variety, yet small enough for ease of shopping and convenience. The staff was extremely helpful to me, and they made me feel quite welcome there. They told me all about their fine shop and invited me to come back soon. I certainly will return there. They advised me that they get new items coming in quite often. I hope to find more of what I'm looking for in the future. I only rated this antique mall with five stars because I wasn't able to rate it higher, but here's six stars - ****** - for the fine people who run the place. They're wonderful!
Best mall in the area! The Antique Market at Distillery Commons is located convienently, but I did not know it existed until recently. It's on Payne street between Lexington and Baxter. The staff are friendly and helpful. The layout is open, items are beautifully displayed, and I did not get an allergy attack from an aboundance of antique dust! The Antique Market Distillery Commons is a treasure for those in the market for unique antique furnature, imported smalls, or just an afternoon of brousing. If you have not had the opportunity to check it out, I highly recommend it. They're open everyday but Monday until 5:00.
We love to go here whenever we can, unfortunately we live a few hundred miles away. Anytime we're passing through the area, no matter how far our journey may be, we always stop in and spend at least an hour, and that's still not long enough to see everything. You will see many of your favorite toys from childhood arousing an overwhelming rush of nostalgia. The last time we came through, our car was loaded down with people and luggage, but we left there with all of our new treasures in our laps and didn't mind the additional things added to an already overcrowded car. We can't wait to do it again!!! Definately a must see!
Found many of the dealers from Goss Avenue Antiques and Interiors seemed to have moved to the Mellwood Antiques and Interiors. Not the same old stuff though. Danish Modern, Mid Century, and great old industrial arts and antiques. Did not expect to find Herman Miller, George Nelson,or even a rare sky scraper Gilbert Rohde Vanity, but I did! They also have traditional and English furniture that is hard to find in Louisville. Seems like the dealers add new items every week!
I can not understand how anyone would give Schumann Antiques anything other than 5 stars. The owner, Greg Schumann, is the ULTIMATE GENTLEMAN. He is very knowledgeable about antiques and always willing to share his knowledge in a kind and gentlemanly manner. The antiques in the shop are first class. And, Schmann's Restoration Services are the best in Louisville. I highly recommend Schumann Antiques.
I have been stopping here for years any time I go south on vacation. It is about 95% old antique toys. If you collect toys, it will take you over an hour easily to go thru this thing. The staff is very very nice and easy to talk to. A little hard to find off the Brooks Road exit south of town on I-65, but well worth the search.
I had an excellent time at the david friedlander antique store. The friendly faces behind the counter were happy to answer any questions I had and point me in the right direction to finding something in the shop. I can't wait to come back again and see the ever changing storefront.
We stumbled across this marvelous shop, which later found out has been around for over 50 years! Just sorry we hadn't discovered it sooner. It was full of unusual and authentic antiques mostly from Europe. The owner had years of knowledge which he eagerly shared with us. Delightful!
Olde Curiosity is the collectors paradise. The mall has everything from the past and present. The atmosphere is very pleasent. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It was a true joy shopping at the mall. I would recommend it to every collector out there. I will be back.
Excellent Antique Mall, Three Floors of Antiques and Vintage Items, I found the pricing in this mall to be better than most I've visited in the past, they have a Rough Room with lots of bargains! I was pleased with my finds. I found there resturant to have good food and service.
