This place was definitely an experience I'll remember. If you're ever lucky enough to check this place out, you're in for a treat! When you first pull up to the Magic Castle, the valet greets you and you wait in line to enter. I went on a Saturday with my wife and our brothers and sisters. The place opened at 5PM and we got there a little after that. I would recommend getting there on time or even earlier as it did get busy even though they just opened up. When we finally got in, there was a lobby and a really small gift shop. We paid for admittance and then said the magic words "open sesame" to enter. Our dinner wasn't til 6PM so we got drinks at the bar. They had a lounge with some parlor magic tricks going on but it got full. That's why I would recommend going as early as you can to get the most out of this place. DINNER: Dinner was surprisingly better than what I expected after reading the reviews on here. We got the truffle fries for appetizers. It was okay. Not the greatest. I ordered a 14oz steak. I can't remember the name but it was pretty delicious. The dinner was pretty pricey, but since this was a rare occasion I guess it was worth it. We were celebrating my birthday as well so they offered champagne or a slice of cheesecake to me. I got the cheesecake and it was pretty good and a nice addition to the meal. The service was really good and the food was better than expected. Because we ate dinner here, we got a ticket to the 8:30PM magic show. Since it was a busy weekend, at least we were guaranteed a seat. After dinner, we walked around to go see some of the different areas and shows. Because it was so busy and packed, the wait times were really long and you needed to be in line way in advance before the show even started. This was the only thing I didn't like was the wait and being so crowded. I thought it was a more exclusive place but it didn't seem like it from the inside. We got to watch a few magic shows and up close magic tricks. The shows were really good and an experience I'll never forget. If you ever get the chance to be invited here, make sure to come and experience this for yourself!

My friend and I were staying at the Downtown LA Sheraton as part of a large group participating in the Inaugural LA Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon. We arrived at the hotel at about 1:30 pm, hoping for an early check-in, but more importantly hoping to arrange a late check-out the next day, as we were in the "back of the pack" and likely would not make it back before the 12 noon check-out. The first person we encountered at the front desk was polite and tried to help get us a 1pm checkout; however because our room was not ready yet, she could not make the change on the computer and suggested we come back at 3 and try again. The next person we encountered was, in a word, horrid. She explained, rather rudely, that all hotels have a standard 3pm check in and 12 pm check out. Um, really? And then she had the nerve to tell us "Well, your room isn't ready anyway, so you'll have to come back later." So it's OK for us to have our check-in delayed, but we couldn't check out late? Go figure. Furious but determined to make the best of our race weekend, my friend and I headed out to find a late lunch. Upon returning to the desk, we encountered yet another staff member at the desk - Gustave - and explained our situation again. At first he was concerned that there were no double rooms available - a pity because our accommodation arrangements had been made months in advance. At that point we were about to completely loose it, but Gustave saved the day. He made sure that we had the best accommodations available and granted our late checkout request, allowing us to completely enjoy our race day getaway. Our room was comfortable and clean, the beds slept well, and though short, we had a good overnight stay. I'd honestly have to say that while the hotel website boasts of a recent remodel, the room wasn't as nice as other hotels I've visited. However, because of the exemplary service we received, I had to throw in another star for good measure. Thank you Gustave for a wonderful stay!
so i moved to L.A. and after trying a bunch of places i decided to take a chance on the Mayfair Hotel...and was I very happy that I did..the rooms are clean..the location is excellent..the staff is excellent...AND WOW THE PRICE IS VERY GOOD...I don't think you can beat this hotel for the price and location..hey this is L.A. ....does not matter where you live..it's a wild city...and the area around the hotel might look unsafe..BUT IS IS VERY SAFE...there is a nice laundry next door ...and you get to meet the locals there..as you do with the nice folks who sell fruit from their trucks parked on the street...all in all it will be fun staying at the Mayfair hotel...if you complain..about the place it is because you are too lazy to really check it out.. it's not the Hotel..it's YOU...!!!
