Pierce Bros. Mortuaries & Cemeteries are respected and longtime providers of exceptional funeral service to Los Angeles County. Westwood Village Mortuary & Memorial Park is Westwood's "Secret Hide-a-Way". I was honored to work at this location as a mortuary counselor in the early 1990's when I was As a licensed mortician & embalmer in Michigan, I was quickly offered a position. No embalming, but still a job in funeral service at age 27. For the short period of my "California experience", I was daily reminded of how we honor our dead. Especially, famous people. It's comforting to know that so many different people come into the cemetery daily to visit Marilyn Monroe's crypt, walk amongst the grass and see grave markers for the likes of Natalie Wood, Minnie (Ripperton) Rudolph, Mel Torme, Truman Capote, Merv Griffin , Jim & Hennie Baccus, Heather O'Rourke, Eve Arden West, Dorothy Stratton, Dominique Dunn, Sebastian Cabot, Dree Davidson and so many others. Many came during their lunch breaks, if just to sit amongst the trees and have a sandwich before returning to their busy offices just yards away. This is Westwood Memorial Park. Wilsher & Glendon. Westwood Village, California. I've had the chance to work with many types of families overs the years and have found that they all bear the common thread of the death of a loved one. I am writing this review as an actual member of this church. Prior to becoming a member here, I was in fairly good teaching churches, which is very important to me. This is a bi-lingual church. Spanish and English. I speak and understand English and know some Spanish, but I have no problem understanding the sermons and bible studies. Pastor Eddie Ildefonso is fluent in both languages. This church is truly a missionary church that understands and lives out the "Great Commission" which is detailed in Matthew 28:19-20. This church has planted and is actively training leaders in Romania, Africa, Honduras, Guatemala, Pakistan, India and soon in Chile and Brasil. Over 500 churches worldwide. Pastor travels to these countries regularly each year and when not traveling, he conducts Skype training. There are also missionary teams that travel as well. Pastor Eddie is also the overseas dean of Covington Theological Seminary and partners with affiliated churches in overseas missionary efforts. Here at home, the congregation is also involved in local missionary efforts. All in all this is a great church to receive in depth teaching in the bible and learn to apply biblical principals in your life. I would recommend this church families and individuals looking for a church home in the Westchester area of Los Angeles.
Where to begin....this school is owned and operated by a family that so passionately believes in the montessori method and our children. Their commitment to excellence is only out done by their love and appreciation for the children. Yes, there were changes in staff at the school but it was the very first year of this brand new (beautiful) location. I always believed in the school's intention of creating the best possible, most cohesive staff and I do believe they have been successful. I have complete trust in their judgment but also feel comfortable asking questions and making requests. My children love the teachers, love their classmates and most importantly LOVE school. My son has had an extraordinary year of academic growth (learning to read, write and do simple math in preschool) while flourishing socially. Most days my son begs to stay a few more minutes to either play with friends or show me his work. The owners, staff and director are all well qualified, professional and manage a beautiful balance of consistency in high standards while remaining very playful and loving with the children. I am enormously grateful to have found this school and truly feel my children will benefit from what they are learning here through out their education.
