Buyer beware!

I had a cat with cancer & we saw mainly a specialist at this clinic but also several general practice vets & technicians over the course of several months. What struck me most was their profound indifference towards my pet's care & towards my goals & abilities to deal with the problem. At times the treatment was aggressive and at others, utterly careless. Only once out of numerous visits did they provide a written fe... view more

Dr Chang and Dr Tsugawa are the best!

I had to take my dogs to see Dr. Tsugawa (veterinary cardiologist) and Dr. Chang (veterinary ophthalmologist) on different occasions at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. My min pin has hemangiosarcoma along with diabetes and also some serious cardiac issues. Dr. Lynette Tsugawa was so amazing and was great with my 17 year old min pin. And my min pin is now managing well. Dr. Michael Chang performed a ... view more

Lies

I have never commented on a review of my service before. I do not typically make comments on these sites. However I found this post to be so slanderous that I could help but post my side of this situation regarding the comments of sweets3711. First off it is my policy that all pets having surgery have a pre-surgical consult. This visit allows your pet to be checked for any problems that may complicate the proce... view more

FANTASTIC DOCTORS, COMPASSIONATE STAFF

1. Doctors and staff: A+. Compassionate staff and doctors are conscientious, professional, highly skilled – this is a teaching hospital --the UCLA (or maybe LA County Hospital) of vet hospitals. My golden retriever needed major emergency surgery --he had inhaled a foxtail which formed an abscess between his lungs that attached to the lining of his heart. He was in pain, had fluid in his lungs -- the abscess had... view more

Joind me in going after VCA

VCA is a rip off. They have great vets but are taught to do as many procedures as possible to pad the bill. \r \r VCA owns Antech Diagnostics which provides all the tests at a cost to VCA at about 1/4 what they charge outside vets.\r \r Now that people are hurting for money and fewer are going to vets, vets have compensated by raising their fees and stiffing their clients.\r \r I have decided to fight back. I j... view more

I would never recommend this hospital to anyone

It has been a year since they gave my dog a toxic treatment for lymphoma which basically\r did not extend his life but made his last couple weeks of life ""pure hell"". What is so\r surprising is that the head of this hospital was involved in research showing that the\r Collie breed should be tested before given this type of treatment. This was never\r suggested to me and even after my dog became very ill from ... view more

Poor experience

I discovered my cat had a broken paw after I returned home from a trip. A negligent sitter did not realize my cat was in pain. I rushed my little girl to the W. Hollywood Animal Hospital and they referred me to VCA. I met with Dr. Balfour, who was pretty good. My cat ended up staying there for over a week. The surgery and follow up cost over $4,000. The other attending doctors were very bad. One said my cat (w... view more

Overpriced! They care a lot more about your money than about your pet

This is by far the most expensive vet in town!!! , I went there to treat my dog and they took him from my hands while a was filling out the billing information, the took him and I didn't see him for two hours. When the doctor finally called me (I didn't even was introduced to my dog's doctor before), she told me that they gave him some medication and also they made a bl. test and x-ray for him, she also told me that... view more

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A FAT BANK ACCOUNT, DO NOT GO HERE

I should have walked out when I was asked for a $2,500 deposit for my pet's evaulation, with a guarantee that the total bill would not be more than $700 more. Well, the vet lied. After three days and nearly $10,000 in fees, including Rxs that cost nearly $400 each, my precious dog died one night of a pulmonary embolism. I was holding her in my arms when she struggled to breathe and then was gone. I will never tak... view more
