Went to Luna Park for the first time with a friend last week and thought it was a bit over-hyped. First of all make sure to bring money for parking because you will either have to valet or fight for one of the metered spots on La Brea. We decided to share a bottle of wine and some courses. We started off with the chipotle caesar salad, it was good, nothing out of this world - but had a little kick with spice. Next, we had the parmesan rigatoni Bolognese. My friend ordered this before and said it was really good, but this time around it was kind of bland and needed some extra salt and pepper to liven it up. However, we decided up front that we were going to treat ourselves with the make your own s'mores - these were super yummy and definitely made up for the rest of the meal. The overall look of the restaurant was nice, very dark with candles - maybe nice for a date instead of meeting a friend. And was disappointed that someone told me to get the grilled cheese and tomato soup because it is really good, but apparently it is only offered on the lunch menu. I looked at this menu online and it looks like it offers a ton more than just the dinner menu - so maybe next time I'll try lunch instead of dinner there.

Came to Luna with my sister during her birthday. Food was great. We had a salad and an avocado burger. They offer great discounts through twitter and groupon and have a full bar. If you can, go there on someones birthday, the ""cake"" they bring you is surprisingly ""large"" :) I'll let you see what I'm talking about. It gave us a good laugh on how clever they were!

Almost on a weekly basis, Luna Park tweets unreal discounts, such as 50% off your entire check. Of course, you have to be following them to know the secret password to whisper to your server. Luna Park also offers ""Blue Plate Specials"" Sunday to Thursday night with entrees priced from $10 to $12, in addition to their regular menu items like goat cheese fondue, pot roast and pork cutlet. Don't forget to order one of their specialty cocktails, their sangria is my favorite. [Twitter Handle: @lunaparkla]

My husband and I had dinner here on april 9, 2010,by\r recommendation from sandra lee of the food network\r we drove from orange county to la, we had concert tickets at staples and decided to drive to luna park\r then back to downtown for concert. What a mistake\r we arrived at 5:30pm dinner time very few people in\r restaurant. We were sat at a booth that everytime\r the door was opened to go to serve people in outside\r patie a large draft of air would come in. My husband immediately order his appitizer when we sat down because be knew we needed to leave by 7:00 to get back to downtown. As soon as the water was put on the table we ordered dinner, my husband ordered the casulet and I order stuffed pork cutlet with mushrooms and guyere cheese. We waited l hours for dinner and\r when it came my husband dish was so hot and steaming he had to wait 20 mins to cool , the beans\r were not cook and the rest was a mushey mess. My \r cutlet was about the side a a 3x5 card so thin that\r if it was stuffed the mushroom and cheese were not\r noticed in the flavor., the mashed potatoes were runney and cold swinning in butter or oil unable to\r detact flavor,. We then ordered the signature dessert\r make you own smores., the homemade crackers were\r burnt and the marshmellow were difficult to get out\r of the heated dish, they stuck to the spoon and had\r to get transferred to cracker. The only positive was we\r had a 50% off coupon, thank goodness, i would have\r been upset if we had paid full price for this poorly\r prepared food. We were planning to take friends\r from australia there but will not now and would not\r recommed to anyone. When the management realized that we had been waiting a long time for our\r meal they avoided our table like the plague, never said\r and about the poor service or the long wait. A couple\r came in 30-40 minutes after use and received the same dishes that we ordered 5 minutes after our food\r arrived . We had to continuely ask for water, know one\r every came to your table to see if were liked the food, etc. Regular prices of food are way to high for the \r small portions and poor preparation, Don't waste your\r time or money in this restaurant.\r the

It may be hard to find, but it's a really cute date spot or a fun place to eat with the girls. I only had their sandwiches which may have been a mistake because it was so-so. Everyone raves of the mac&cheese so maybe next time? Great atmosphere and kind of crappy service, drinks were yummy.

Forgot about this spot because of all the new fab restos in town. But went back recently and had a spot on lunch. Everything was just great and we got a killer deal (50% off!) by following them on twitter. I was very impressed with the mac & cheese, salads and especially the deserts. I will go back and i must remember to remember Luna Park as a viable dinner option too!
Really too bad how terrible the food is, because Luna Park on La Brea is about three blocks from our apartment. We tried it a couple years ago and thought the food was awful; bar food for people who don't care what they're eating. We tried again recently, and seriously, can you say salt? My vegetarian dish was so salty I couldn't even eat it. My husband's shrimp risotto was a bit better, but it tasted like something out of a package from Trader Joes. No insult to TJ's. The service was friendly and the decor is cute, but honestly; not cheap, salted to hell food for people who are more interested in their overpriced cocktails than the food they're putting in their mouths. You know what we decided? That the crowd was "bridge & tunnel". It's a Manhattan reference, but it basically means people who want to be where it's happening, but have no clue. Don't waste your money learning the hard way like we did.

I get the comments below I have been there a few times and was very iffy on going back. But I got a gift card for half price at lahalfoff. com so I figured it was cheap. Food was much better and the staff was really nice actually. I guess they read citysearch...

I live a few blocks away so I end up at Luna Park a few times a month (it is a 5 minute walk). \r \r Most of the food is consistently good but a little overpriced. My favorite item on the menu is the tuna poke.\r \r Aviod the S'mores for dessert ... I've made better s'mores in my microwave.\r \r

Just bad food. OK place. Bad food. Cheap though. If it was this or pretty much any other place I would go there first.

So sad what has happened at Luna Park throughout the few years of its existence. They kept (keep) changing chefs, staff, managers, dishes, on a regular basis, until all the magic disappeared. The place apparently can still have a good atmosphere but the charm is gone - the delicious plates at great prices, and the full, chic crowd are a distant memory. Pizza and burgers? Really? Sandwiches and Salad Nicoise? Are you kidding? Sure the salad has been there from day one, but that should have been the first thing to go, not the fried trout or the truffle oil ravioli. There are so many places like the present Luna Park, I'm certainly not going out of my way to La Brea and Wilshire for a regular burger / boring fare, and over-priced drinks. Those are a dime a dozen in LA. ""Sorry Luna Park, you had it once and I loved you so much that I gave you try after try during change after change - and now you're just another joint. Special no more. Good luck with your future endeavors.""

After waiting for a table for 1 hour and 15 minutes we have finally decided to go else where, oh and we had a reservation. Beyond rude hostess didn't offer any excuses for the wait and never even approached us to let us know that the table is coming in however long (honey you're just a hostess, you can give up the attitude). The manager was clueless to what was going on in his restaurant. Extremely unprofessional in his appearance he wasn't able to solve a situation and just walked away. \r I find it ridiculous when restaurant staff have no idea what they are doing.

Amazing tonight! We ordered from the prix-fixe menu and the food was perfect.\r \r It was crowded but the staff made sure we were taken care of. They manager Trey was very accommodating and our server Silvie gave us impeccable service. I will definitely be returning.

i've been here before and it's fine foodwise, but i will seriously never set foot in this place again after what happened to us last night....\r \r it was crowded and they were overwhelmed which happens... i get it. but when you have a reservation for 9pm for 4 people i expect to be seated sometime within that timeframe (+/- 20 mins). at around 10:15 we still had not been seated and there was no appology or even any acknowledgment that anything was wrong with the situation. i understand that restaurants get busy, but it's how you deal with the situation that counts. it was seriously like talking to a brick wall. i guess that's what you get when you hire teenage girls that don't take their job seriously to be the hostess.

I normally don?t like to write bad reviews, but here is one.\r \r The calamari was cold and tough, not edible at all.\r \r The cobb salad was $14 for a small plate, not even aesthetically pleasing. No ham, the avocado was dangerously and eerily light green with no taste, and the bleu cheese was the cheap stuff you get in Smart and Final.\r \r On the positive side, a small smoking patio/eating area where I got to enjoy the blissful break in the obsequious California heat with a friend while on our way to see a movie.\r

I used to love Luna Park. My friends disliked the prices and noise factor, but I always enjoyed the food and service there. Until tonight. Luna Park has sent me email notifications regarding their Blue Plate Specials (entrees between $10-12), so tonight I went to check it out. As soon as we ordered the blue plate special, our server's demeanor changed instantly. He totally ignored us, in spite of our several attempts to flag him down as he walked to every single table surrounding our table. Finally, he stopped, looked at me, and then WALKED AWAY FROM ME MID-SENTENCE. This is unacceptably rude! Especially when I was saying that I would like to see the menu again to order more food!!! \r \r If a restaurant is going to promote a budget special on slow nights of the week, then its waiters should not treat you like a pariah just because you actually order the special. I used to eat here fairly regularly, but I'm not going back for a long time. \r \r The food itself was okay for the price, but just be warned that if you order the special, you run the risk of being treated like your order isn't worth your server's time. I hope this is just one server who was having a terrible night, but I'm offended enough to not go back again and find out.

The food is always good, but what's especially outstanding about this place is the service!!!! The staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your experience... and this has consistently been the case each and every time I've visited. \r \r Fun place to go for lunchtime if you want a convivial atmosphere... it gets packed, so be prepared to take a little extra time and maybe enjoy a little cocktail before you head back to the office!

By far, one of the best places in LA to have great cocktails, fantastic food, beautiful crowd and very reasonable price. I will go back soon.\r \r These days most restaurants in LA with the same quality of food and ambience would cost 3 times more than Luna Park. Good job....keep it up!!!
