    SAVE the HASSLE

    Provided by

Originally from NY, I expected better. The place was dirty, tables filthy, and we had to clean our own. Value for the one topping slice was worthless. The server/cashier was a ditz. Only dough/crust, was acceptable, but the server did not put the spinach on top of our white pizza. At first we thought the dark green parsley bits in the cheese must be the spinach, but when we walked out, the server was giving others mounds of spinach and when we complained the mgr was belligerent and yelled. I don't care how many stars have gone here never again! They must be pocketing their cash only business too!!

    Great Pizza!

    Provided by

Pizza place is simple, with a good selection. They heat it up upon order. You feel like you're in NY with its decor, though they are decorated with pictures of the london subway. I haven't been back in awhile, since the good 'ol college days. But I stop by anytime I'm in town.

Worst Service and lame attitude - mediocre pizza

    Provided by

We have an account with LaMonica's here at UCLA. They deliver pizza to us every week. You'd think they'd be grateful for the business and try to get her on time BEFORE the seminar starts as we request they do. Today the delivery guy was half an hour late! When he showed up he wasn't the slightest bit apologetic. We asked if he was lost (you can excuse a new guy who doesn't know the campus too well) and he shrugged it off and said, ""no, the traffic was bad."" Well maybe if he left early (we gave them two hours from the time the order was placed) the traffic wouldn't have been so bad! Unbelievable. When we called earlier to find out where the dude was the woman taking the order (after keeping me on hold for 5 minutes) simply stated, ""he left already"" then hung up on me!\r Oh, as for the quality of the pizza -- it's strictly mediocre, greasy, dorm room stuff you get when it's 3 AM and you have no other choice (not that they'd be open that late but you get the picture). \r \r If you want quality, I'd suggest traveling to Echo Park for Masa of Echo Park! Now there is some tasty pizza...

THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WHOLE WESTSIDE.

THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WHOLE WESTSIDE.THE PIZZA TASTES JUST LIKE NEW YORK PIZZA. I FOUND OUT THAT THE PIZZA DOUGH IS MADE IN BROOKLYN NY AND THEN SHIPPED TO LOS ANGELES.

    Best pizza in town!

    Provided by

After soccer practice, I needed to find a pizza place for the 15 kids in the back of my van. On my left, I suddenly see this pizza restaurant sign and I yell ""Pizza Guys?"" The answer was ""Yeeeeeeeeah!"" So we stopped there and I was able to feed everyone of these little monkeys for only $25. Rad!

    Great pie; LONG delivery time

    Provided by

The pies are consistently excellent, but right now it's been 2 hours & 10 minutes and it's STILL not here. Shortest ever was 45 minutes, but it's usually 90.

    One major drawback......

    Provided by

So there I was reading the local raves about Lamonica's New York PIzza in Westwood, Ca.. So, I call them and they answer with a yes to all the major questions, ie; delivery, delivery to my area, etc. So we get the pizza designed, they take my info ,so far so good and the nice lady says to me, ""Cash Only"". Cash Only?. Are you serious?. How do you stay in business?. She laughed. She added that even if I ate there I would have to pay with cash.\r What a waste of time!. So,while I can't comment on the food I can say with certainty that this place has to be losing business in droves.\r So,if you want a delivery...make sure you can get to an Atm before it arrives.

    Best pizza in town

    Provided by

Lamonica?s Pizza by far is the best pizza in town. Try it straight out of their oven or reheat it and I guarantee it to be one of the best you've ever had and trust me, I am a pizza connoisseur.

    Unbeatable pizza by the slice

    Provided by

Growing up on the west coast with two parents from back east, I've been forced into understanding the fundamentals of New York pizza authenticity. And while it's pretty much impossible to get an authentic NY pizza in L.A., LaMonica's produces some darn good pies. The secret to really getting the best of this place is ordering by the slice. They come out of the oven perfectly crisped and wonderfully thin. My favorites are the tomato basil and the mushroom, but they offer all kinds of toppings. The crust is thin, the sauce has a good acidity to it, and the interior is appropriately gritty, nearing hole-in-the-wall status (if it weren't for all the good reviews). I like to add a garlic roll to my order, a must for any garlic-lover.

    Not NY, but still great

    Provided by

I agree that this pizza is not NY pizza. But for those of us stuck on the west coast its as good as it gets. the pizza is flavorful, crispy and dirt cheep.

    Best Pzza in the Westside!

    Provided by

Lamonica's is the best pizza in the Westide and possibly even all of LA (I havent tried them all so I couldnt say). Their dough is flown in from NY and the ingredients are sooo fresh. I am obsessed with the pizza and the service is fast and friendly and they even deliver!

Coming from someone who knows Pizza

    Provided by

the pizza is pretty good for the price i guess. But my parents own two authentic Italian deli's and I've eaten pizza all my life. thus i get very analytical over the ingredients. \r \r The sauce needs more taste and it seems that the cheese is ok quality. I tried to ricotta cheese and it was absolutely tasteless.\r \r if you are looking for a place that fills you up with somewhat of a good taste.. then this is the place..\r its a great place when coming home late from work or club.

    Great NY pizza in LA

    Provided by

I am a big fan of thin-crust pizza (none of that thick, greasy stuff), so I fell in love with Lamonica's. It's a trademark spot in Westwood with its New York-inspired motif inside. Though they're thin, the slices are huge and the toppings are generous.

    Great pizza!

    Provided by

LaMonica's has delicious pizza for totally reasonable prices - and when you consider their huge fan base, they MUST be good! The ambience is a little dive-y but fun with it's New York theme, with street-signs, pictures, etc. They also deliver, and are open late. Stop by here for a tasty slice while you're in Westwood.

    Good pizza at fair prices!

    Provided by

The pizza scene on the Westside is a bit lacking, but Lamonica's is the standout! The pizza is consistant from one visit to the next and is loved by my 4 year old, my 11 year old and their grandparents! They are generous in their pricing for local school pizza parties and always very pleasant when delivering or eating in!

Not true NY pizza, but BEST in Westwood!

    Provided by

Setting this joint apart from other Westwood and Westwood Village pizza joints: large really is large; crust is thin (not true NY thin, though); crust to cheese to topping ratio seems just right; and when Lamonica's takes your order over the phone, they can understand what I'm saying, I can understand what they're saying*, and they find their way to my address right when they say they will. *P.S. I'm not dissing accents here, I'm just happy that at Lamonicas the phone connection / loudness of the shop / critical thinking abilities of the staff allow them to get my order right the first time. Period.\r \r I love not getting too much dough / bread with my pizza and this is about as thin as pizza crust comes in the Westwood area.

    Overrated

    Provided by

I am starting to doubt citysearch reviews because of this. It is ""good"" but it is by NO MEANS better than NEW YORK pizza. The dough is decent, but not true NY Thin. Lacks consistency(yes I've eaten it enough because of lack of other choices but eatin a slice does not make me crave more, and that disappoints me. The cheese quality is average and not fresh. Same with Tomatoes (CANNED), cheap Sausage, and sauce that lacks some ESSENTIAL herbs.
