4 Star Sichuan for West LA

If you can't make it to Yun Chuan Garden in Monterey Park, then this will curb your Sichuan craving temporarily, as long as you don't order anything off of the combo menu. The Szechwan Cabbage & Pork Chop soup is the only item off the menu that i've had at an authentic Sichuan restaurant and the Szechwan Wonton ground pork dumpling in chef's special hot sauce is pretty good. The twice cooked pork here doesn't rese... view more

Best dumpling appetizer

This hole in the wall Chinese restaurant is the best in Palms! The service is great and the prices are reasonable. The portions are huge and the food is delicious though a bit on the greasy side, but that's almost to be expected.\r Make sure you try the spicy dumpling appetizer. It's da bomb!\r Parking is a nightmare. Try finding a spot on Motor or Woodbine or Mentone.

Not better than Panda

I've been hunting for a decent chinese place and decided to try this after it appeared on Citysearch's best eats under $20. We ordered a soup, a shrimp dish, a vegetable and a kung pao, all items highly recommended in other reviews. Very disappointed overall. The soup lacked flavor. The meat was chewy. The sauces were unremarkable, too thick, and without nuance. Sadly, not cheaper or better than Panda Express..... view more

Best Chinese Food Here in WEST LA

Hu's has been my favorite from Day 1. The service is quick and the dishes are very tasty and served in large quantities. Since I'm Asian myself, I can tell when the food is Americanized or truly Authentic. At Hu's its AUTHENTIC! I love the Cashew Nut Shrimp and my Fiance Loves the Orange Chicken. Some may think its oily but I think that's up to each persons' liking. I usually ask for a small amount of oil used in my ... view more

The WORST do not go there.

I read the reviews and decided to give this place a try. I have tried it a few times and it is hard to believe this place is highly rated. Its not even close to being a good place to eat compared to any chinese restuarant I have been too.\r \r I found that Hu's was greasy and service to be poor. My last visit, Eric, the manager, took my order togo. Eric made a mistake on my order, which I found out at home. I ... view more

Best Chinese hole in the wall.

This small local joint doesn?t look like much but the food is awesome. If you?re looking for an alternative to your typical fast Chinese fast food this is it. I prefer to take out, the place needs new decor, it's a hole in the wall, great service though. The egg rolls are amazing and you got to try the kung-pao.

Szechwan Soul Food! Nice Neighborhood. Parking a pain. Car pool and enjoy!

This is NOT an upscale restaurant with a star chef. This is a ""joint"", the equivalent of soul food joint on the corner in Detroit. Except instead of soulfood and Detroit, substitute Szechwan-style and south-central China. It's heavy, think and so dang good!\r \r My favorite is the Orange Peel Chicken and the Szechwan Dumplings. Sometimes the Orange Peel can be too ""crispy"". Make sure you ask them not to o... view more

Food fresh all the time

I live in the neighborhood & see them prepairing the fresh vegtables everyday here.\r I don`t know what that person is talking about that the food like tasted like leftover.\r 15 yrs is a long time & never a bad meal.

I've grudgingly converted

Utter lack of ambiance, slightly low-rent Palms location, and very limited parking initially turned me away from this establishment. After two visits, however, I'm willing to concede that the food is both high quality and high value. The menu is nothing too ecclectic, but this place is really about standards done right. Service was friendly and reasonably fast on both past visits. Caution on the orange chicken: i... view more

The Kung Pao is Superb!

I use Kung Pao sauce as my Chinese food barometer and their Kung Pao sauce is amazing. Different than any I've had, it's just about perfect. I order it with white meat chicken, since I've never been a big fan of the lower grade chicken customarily used by Chinese restaurants in Kung Pao.
