I live in Sliver Lake and just got tired of driving to Bev Hills for Byron, Fekkai, Hershberger. \r \r It's always the same shade of Cali blonde highlights and newscaster hair. Mine is very long and blonde so it can get all too Marcia Brady very quickly. \r \r I randomly stopped by Gamine one day and got some great highlights/lowlights to test the waters. Then I started going to Julie for cuts and I have never looked back at Bev Hills (good riddance, twits). \r \r I love sitting Julie's chair -- she's hilarious and we talk about everything under the sun. Moreover, she's worked with me over the past four appointments to gradually move to a beautiful and unique cut. In fact, on my second cut, I had a concern, emailed her, and she got me right back in the chair to modify it to my preference. \r \r Of course, hair cutters aren't mind readers but Julie's pretty close. And she has worked with me to give me what I need -- or didn't know I needed, until she tried it. I have been so happy with Julie's cuts and Vanessa's color that I started sending my husband to Ezra. \r \r She's given him two really handsome cuts that he can re-work with a little wax. This is new for him and he's getting pretty good at it. It's cool and versatile, so he can tame it down or funk it up to suit his mood/skill level at the moment. \r \r I am actually starting to wonder why I'm writing this because I want us to be able to waltz into Gamine any old time. But my selfishness would be a dis-service to Julie and her team. \r \r They've all been so loyal to us that I really want the best for them. If that means having to share with the rest of Silver Lake, then so be it. It's only fair.\r \r One warning! Don't park in the spot directly across from Gamine, closest to the sidewalk/driveway. Hundreds of pigeons gather there and they will customize your ride.

i was tired of driving to the west side to have my hair done. it would often take up my entire day. also i didn't feel i was really getting what i wanted at the salons i tried there. i have been having my hair bleached and toned since early this year and it is suprising how many ""good"" colorists don't have this skill mastered. i left one place with my hair looking grey/lavender and had to go back to have it fixed.another time my hair looked like a canary with a twinge of green. gamine is the best place to go because they really listen to you and vanessa who did my color definitly knows what she's doing . i didn't have to spend tons of time under the dryer, my scalp wasn't burned and she gave me a beautiful shade of light blonde.also ezra , who did my cut is excellent. she gave ne a cute punky pixie ala agnes deyn that really suits my face shape. also the design of the salon is really great. big thumbs up to gamine! also in and out of there in 2.5 hours which is really fast in my experience.

i had THE WORST hair cut of my life. i was looking for a simple trim, but Ezra completely messed up my hair. The place looked cute, and it's in my neighborhood.....but Ezra has no idea what she is doing. I have long long hair and HAD long layers. Ezra left my hair long, but cut the whole top layer of my hair above my ears. IT IS HORRIBLE. I can't look in the mirror and am paying 120 to get it fixed. Ezra is terrible terrible terrible. Do not go to GAMINE salon unless you want a mullet or the worst haircut of your life.

Gamine has moved to Silverlake from West Hollywood, but is still the coolest, most stylish salon around, with Architectual Digest-level decor and, in proprietress Julie Rosenberg, the best cutting on earth. (She's done my hair since 1994, so I'm serious about this.)
