this place was awful. the woman who cut my hair yelled at or argued with me the entire time she was cutting my hair. and it's a disastrous cut. she had no idea what she was doing. I strongly advise against this place. you could do better. at least find someone who won't make you feel bad.

This is a really good place for UCLA students to get their hair cut ($20 student special) in a real salon environment... salon quality cuts. They usually wash & condition my hair beforehand, and style it afterward. The only complaint is that sometimes I get bad cuts and sometimes good, the quality across the stylists is not always consistent.

I do not recommend this place. I went here for highlights and had it done by Pat but he did a horrible job, and my roots were still obvious..i paid 120 and wasnt even happy. I decided to try it again a 2nd time a month later, askling for something different. I wanted my hair lighter, instead i ended up with ORANGE HAIR! i had to pay 85 and then to correct it he still wanted to charge me, i felt like i was paying to make my hair look bad. I could have done alot better doing it myself.

I used to be a receptionist a few years ago at Freddy & Liana's and it is seriously a mess in almost every respect. Freddy and Liana are the owners and own and run Freddy & Liana's on Broxton and the one next to Jerry's Deli, Sigal G, and Frege. Frege is the ONLY salon out of the four you should go to. It is the ONLY one with qualified stylists (especially if you are a woman and want color done). Half of the stylists are good, while the other half have no skill whatsoever and dont care. The worst part is that both Freddy and Liana could care less that clients are unhappy and stylists unprofessional. If you are a guy getting a simple cut, you are likely safe. If you are a woman: avoid IRENE and SAM at all costs - unless you want to be bald, or frizzy bleach blond!

I've read all the negative comments on here about Freddy and Liana's, and I think it is totally unfair.
I've been going to Freddy's for about 2 years, since I started school at UCLA, and I absolutely love this place!
It is such a fun atmoshphere and the stylists are all really friendly.
The owner is a little eastern european man, and he's a little funny, but it just adds character to the place.
I STRONGLY recommend guys get their haircut here because it is such a great value.
Since I'm not a female, I can't comment on women's haircuts, but all the girls I see see coming out look hot!
My experience has been great and everyone there is FUN and PROFESSIONAL.
This place has a lot of character and is definitely worth a try.

I agree with the last person. I've been to Freddy and Liana's about 3 times, the last time being about a year ago, and there is a reason I haven't been back. The staff can be a bit rude at times, and the one time I brought my boyfriend to get a cut, we waited about 15 minutes as a walk-in while the staff visably chatted out in the back area. It was only when we got up to leave halfway out the door, that someone rushed in and finally served him. And it is true that the staff really don't care what you want. Once, I went in for a trim for my layers and the lady took her scissors and blindly ran them into my hair to ""shag"" as she said, my hair. It was terrible! I probably could have done the same thing myself, for free! I don't remember her name, but I say if you are really desperate for a haircut and aren't that picky about your hair, then visit Freddy and Liana's and ask for Anna. Just be extremely specific and firm on what you want. She was probably the most decent person I had and for $15 (with student ID) you can't beat a wash and cut. Go to Frege instead a block over on Westwood Blvd. and ask for Roya. She's great!

I have gotten my hair cut twice at Freddy and Lianas, and although neither cut was disastrous, they were definitely nothing that great, and I feel could be easily replicated at Supercuts. The stylists did not seem too concerned with what I wanted, or making sure I was happy - instead, kind of did their own thing without listening (1/4 inch off apparently translated to 1 inch off). Another friend of mine wanted natural-looking highlights and emerged with pretty obvious streaks, which she proceeded to wash five times in a row to make them fade. The good news: this place is big and clean, with lots of high-end products that are frequently on sale, and a student haircut is only $15.
