    Vanessa is AMAZING!

    Provided by

When I lived in West Hollywood I literally just had turn a corner and take a few steps and I was at Floyd's. I went there for about two years and always got a 'good' cut (way better than Super Cuts on La Brea -Yikes!). A few months before I moved to Santa Monica Vanessa started working there and I just happened to get her one evening and... Wow! It's like she's reading your mind. It's not that my hair is all that complicated (I got a messy yet professional thing going) but when you see it done perfectly you know it. Even though I have to drive a little further to see her now she is totally worth it!

    BAD qulity

    Provided by

I got a terrible cut in all of 6 minutes - they woman rushed through so fast leaving holes, uneven lines, it was just a mess, and then she was done, she said how is it, and i commented that i would like a little more off the sides. This seemed to bother her, and she gave me a tude about it. I hear her and another guy complain that ""hey its a $20 cut"" and ""these people"" want you to spend extra time and not get paid for it ... or something to that effect. NO TIP - NO RETURN VISIT

    Trendy Salon....

    Provided by

I have had a couple of bad haircuts at this place, but for the most part I have been pleased with the results. The people are very friendly and always have a good story to tell. The location on Melrose is great. I recommend this place for a nice, affordable haircut.

    Scott Riffe

    Provided by

Scott never fails to do a great job on my hair, its unfortunate that he no longer works at Floyds. As for the negative comments about him below, I have no idea what these people are talking about. He's entertaining, personable, funny but most importantly he does his job very well!!! Floyd has lost a irreplaceable talent.

    RIFFE IS THE MAN!

    Provided by

I've had Scott cut my hair many times and each time he brings new character to what I thought was almost hopeless hair. I trust him every time and that's a huge relief. I've had very few ""stylists"" or barbers seem to care how I look a week or a month after I leave their shop. Scott removes the worry factor. Now, if you've got unreal standards and want to look like the picture of someone else but don't have the same hair or want him to read your mind, of course you're going to have a bad experience.\r Talk to him, let him be himself and if you get a vibe you can't handle, speak up, he's flexible and very humble when prompted. Don't mistake a fun attitude for being full of himself. Get a life, you losers. It's a freakin' $20 haircut from a guy who trained deeper than you can imagine. Stop trying to chop him down because your freakin' ego is out of control.

    Laaaaame cut from Riffe

    Provided by

My regular guy Tony was off so got a haircut from Riffe instead and he's awful. My fringe is lopsided and my layers are uneven. Worse was listening to him brag about ""celebrity"" clients he used to do that I've never even heard of. Floyd's should send that tool back to beauty school. Tony is good though so go see him. 1 star for Riffe and 4 for Tony.

they fixed my fried Sirens Salon hair!

    Provided by

I went Floyd's after a terrible experience with Kristin at SIRENS SALON up the street... I want everyone to know they fixed my super fried hair and now I just have to grow it all back after what the other salon did it me! go to a salon thats busy and w/ a stylist, you can see their skills right away, so don't wait till they it hurts & they ruin your head and then laugh it off like it looks cool!

Riffe's Your Guy For Good Haircuts

    Provided by

Every place I have gone to get a haircut in LA is not only $60 dollars or more, but the people giving the cuts just tend to do their own thing, ignoring what you ask them to do. Riffe listens, is personable and gives you the detailed cut you ask for at less than half the price of most Hollywood stylists and barbers. They say in life it's crucial that you have a good lawyer, accountant, doctor...and barber. -John Shires

    but stay away from Riffe

    Provided by

went to Floyds for the first time in December and LOVED it. the guy who cut my hair is no longer there but i decided to go again, thinking others working there would be equally cool, interesting, and creative. well they passed me to Riffe. what a disaster. he's totally full of himself. and he destroyed my bangs. not that hard to cut bangs is it? truth is, i could have handled a so so haircut from someone who was nice and didn't act like he was gods gift to women and hair. i'd rather wait 3 hours than get another cut from this guy. my hair is boring, my bangs look stupid, and i spent 20 minutes listening to a self-absorbed moron. don't do it!

Sometimes you don't even get what you pay for!

    Provided by

I got my first and last cut by Riffe! I took a risk trying a new stylist and learned my lesson. I could?ve cut my own hair at home and gotten the same result for free. Not only was my cut boring and lacking style, he was full of himself and had inappropriate comments. I don?t need a flirty chatterbox, I need someone who will listen to what I ask for and give me a great haircut. Melrose is overrated as is this barbershop and Riffe.

Great men's cut by John @ the Melrose Branch

    Provided by

Great cut by John (or maybe Jon) I forgot the spelling but have his card. Will surely go back again. $21 for a great men's cut that was stylish yet professional for work. \r \r John spent a while even using a straight-razor w/ warm shaving cream on my neck.\r \r Again very professional stylist I would fully recommend!

    good cheap haircut

Nate fixed my hair after getting a bad cut on melrose before going there. This place is busy and open which was kind of cold. But my haircut is now fixed thanks to Nate the guy who fixed it.

Cool, Rockin' place....GREAT cut by Riffe!!

    Provided by

I gotta say, as a female, I was a little skeptical going to a ""barbershop"" for a cut, but w/ the economy so crappy, I've been watching my spending. And I gotta say I was totally AMAZED by my new do!! Riffe is the newest stylist there & he simply worked magic on my difficult hair. I paid less than $30 for a $200 cut & style!! Best deal in town ladies. The shop has that really cool, edgy Melrose vibe & they are rockin out all day. And it doesn't hurt that Riffe's easy on the eyes & a good conversationalist! I'm sending all my friends to him! Hurry up & see him before the secret gets out!\r

    Terrific Stylist-customer connection

    Provided by

Nate is more than a stylist - he is your personal cheerleader, confidante, and pal for the whole time you are under his expert care. He makes your time in his chair fun while he asks all the right questions. I am touchy about someone saying they are just going to trim off the split ends....then they proceed to whack off about 5 inches! Not Nate - if you ask for a slight trim, that is what you get. He makes suggestions but does not impose his tastes on you. He is quick, too. Hip, relaxed atmosphere appropriate to Hollywood. Well worth the money.

SOOOO much more pretentious than they deserve to be

    Provided by

OMG, I hate this place. I went here three years ago and hated it then, but I guess i forgot and got desperate and went again. Everyone there is totally snotty, especially the girl at the front desk. Do NOT Believe the prices on the website -- once they are done with your cut/style/color/whatever, oops, it's $30 more because you have long hair/dry scalp/whatever. This was happening to the person in front of me while I was waiting to pay, then -- guess what -- same thing happened to me. How was the work? Sucked! I told the stylist I wanted my hair to be blowdried really full, and since it's naturally curly, that's easy to do (um...I can do it and I have no professional training). It was flat against my head, with no body when she was done. Also, how about some air conditioning, you cheapskates. It was 95 degrees out and I'm getting my hair blowdried --- even the stylist was sweating. This place was gross and does not deserve your business, unless all you care about is being uber-hip. That's all they care about, definitely not about providing good, friendly service at the quoted price.

Awesome Cut and Color- why would you go anywhere else? ?

    Provided by

Dear other consumers:\r \r Just have to tell you how much I loved this place. Just moved here. . . didnt know anyone or where to get my hair cut- ahhh! \r Well long story short- kinda- found Floyd's Barbershop (Yes! they do women) and I am in Love!!!\r Went to the Melrose shop- Front Desk guy was so pleasant and put me at ease that the stylists and colorists knew what they were doing and I would be taken care of. \r Well- I was! My stylist- Bryan was awesome. Took such good care of me. He gave me the best color I have ever had. Not to mention- I have curly hair and sometimes it can be hard to cut. No way! Worked out great. Love my cut and can't stop looking at my hair. \r So very pleased, in case you can't tell. I would rec going here for a fun cut and color- def get color done that way you can request an appointment. \r To all those people hating on this place- maybe you just didnt tell them what you wanted- ever think of that you undecisive people!?\r \r plus -Loved the music and posterwall- no boring white walls like most salons. \r \r Love Floyds and I am going again soon! : ) \r \r thnx

    WORST HAIRCUT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Provided by

oh my goodness, i have to say i've had some bad haircuts in my time, but none have ever made me cry. i have NO idea what he was thinking when he cut my hair. i brought a picture to show along the lines of what i wanted, simple shaggy cut...let me tell you it was a straight cut along the bottom, and a second layer on top, staight across. it was awful!!!! i quickly drove to the store picked up bobby pins(i could no longer put my hair in a ponytail) i didn't wear my hair down for two months! \r if there was a way to give half a star or minus stars i would have. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

Worst Men's Haircut I've Ever Received!!!

    Provided by

I'm an Asian guy with short/medium length hair and I just received the worst haircut of my entire life! The female ""stylist"" that cut my hair looked like she didn't care about me or her job. I gave her specific guidelines on how I wanted my hair cut; I even showed her pictures. She told me that I just needed to thin my hair out a little bit and I agreed.\r \r The so-called ""stylist"" then got thinning shears and, with just one hand, began to chop all my hair away. She did that very fast and didn't even consult with me again. The next morning I noticed that my hair was extremely thin and you could clearly see my scalp on the sides of my head! Also, there are 2 patches on the front, left side of my head that are practically gone! No matter how much styling I try to do, I can't cover up her mistakes...\r \r DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT AT THIS BARBERSHOP! THE SHOP IS A FRANCHISE, JUST LIKE FANTASTIC SAM'S AND SUPERCUTS. MY HAIR WAS COMPLETELY RUINED AND IT HAS CAUSED ME AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF EMBARASSMENT. I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE EVER AGAIN.\r \r If you want a better haircut, try Shorty's Barbershop.
